This should be an easy win. RIT has struggled with division III teams this year. They even lost to DIII Oswego. RIT along with Robert Morris who lost to the Penn State club team are probably the weakest two Division I teams.

Although losing to Penn State is not that big of an upset. I believe Penn State beat Findlay a few years back as well. I don't think many DI teams would want to play good club teams like PSU, Illinois, Ohio University etc

Im guessing Paulch will get some new guys into the lineup this one should be over midway through the second.

R.I.T beat St. Lawrence 3-2 and the USA U18 Team 8-5. Sometimes these aspiring Dl teams have something to prove. The Falcons also have something to proove this weekend, as a warmup for Alaska.Good luck!

I agree...we shouldn't be taking anyone lightly at this point. We need to get back on the winning track ASAP. We still have a very good chance at getting back into the top portion of the standings and making a serious run in the playoffs.

I don't think this game matters at all. We're jockeying for position in the CCHA, so those are the games that matter. If we have any guys that are gimpy with injuries, I'd sit them for this game, and I'd definently start Spratt in goal and give Horrell a rest, because we're going to need him every time out going down the stretch.

The only thing this game matters for is confidence. The only thing I want to see happen during this game is every one of our guys having fun and learning. Learning how to have fun and realizing why the game is fun. That's what happened during the scUM game on Saturday. Every player was having fun. Even after the two goals against, nobody was hanging their head or looked mad. If they can learn how to do that every game, they'll be unstoppable. When it becomes more work and less fun is when we struggle.

I'll sit squarly on the fence here...this game matters more than you might think, but (obviously) not as much as the six conference games that follow.

Yes, anyone with any of those nagging late season injuries ought to sit and rest. The important part of this game is not so much the game itself, but the preparation for the game. Our team has looked (on alternate weekends, and on alternate nights) either aggressive or disinterested, some times together on the same page, others like 20 guys with their own individual agendas. Make no mistake about it, if we take these guys too lightly...fail to properly prepare, or play without focus or intensity...we can lose.

They may be 6-17-2 (4-16-2 against D1 opponents), but that's 2 or 3 wins more than alot of people expected from them. They beat St Lawrence, and their goalie made 53 saves in a 3-1 loss at Cornell. They've got nothing to lose or fear, and their coaches have some extra motivation for this game.

We need this game to set the tone for the remainder of the season.

i dont want to see spratt nor horrell in net on saturday. give the start to frazee. hes a senior and this is the only other chance he is going to get to play. let him play because thgis game doesnt matter and will be over before it even begins

You may be surprised. I hear he has one more year of eligibilty if he chooses to take it. I've noticed that we haven't recruited a true second goalie for next year so, perhaps, that is the reason why.

Anyone know why this game is starting at 5:05 and not 7?? I'm gonna go straight from the basketball game which should be over around 4, to the ice arena. It's weird to have a basketball and hockey game start within 3 hours of each other. It'll be cool to go to both games and just watch falcon sports all day but it's a little unusual.

They are also former BGSU assistants. Wilson was here when Paluch was an assistant to York. He stayed on when Buddy Powers took over and brought Brian Hills with him.

Hillsie was an exciting player to watch. 270 points is 156 games (1.73 per game) over his four years...that speaks for itself.

Unfortunanty my most vivid memory of him is a sad one. The 1983 CCHA championship game against Michigan State at JLA. BG had the nations top ranked offense, and MSU had the top ranked defense. SRO crowd of over 19000, most dressed in that nasty GREEN. State scored off a bad defensive pass right off the opening faceoff, then added two more early goals to take a 3-0 lead before the 10 minute mark. We fought back...3-2 after the first period...3-3 by the middle of the second. Had a goal waved off with about 4 minutes left in regulation (the replay and the picture on the front page of the BG News both clearly showed the goal ought to have been good). About two minutes in to OT, Hills had a clean breakaway, and was hauled down with a hook from behind. Imagine the energy...a penalty shot, in overtime of a conference championship game...even though both teams were expecting to get NCAA bids, the winner would surely get a top seed. The CCHA's leading scorer (Hills) against the nation's top goalie (sorry I have blotted his name out of my memory)...both of them All Americans. Skate, deke, shot, save. Sparty got the game winner about a minute later. There's a GREAT picture of this moment on a large mural at Munn Arena...I still get chills (and the urge to hurl) everytime I see it. INSULT TO INJURY... BG did NOT get an NCAA bid...the bid most everyone thought OUGHT to have been ours went to Minnesota-Duluth. That insult provided the motivation for the 83-84 team that won the national championship by beating Duluth in four overtimes. BELIEVE IT BABY...we'll have those kind of days again!
