It's something we regret, but it was inevitable. The user databases weren't compatible between the different message board software, from what I was told.

Grant can confirm it. It's the price we had to pay to revamp the site.

Sorry

In all honesty, NOTHING has been lost... it just wasn't portable. All the posts are still there...I'm just not sure I even want to turn them back on. It'll be like going back to the stone ages.

I looked for a way to preserve everyhing and wrestled with the change for a LONG time (didn't I Mike??) but in the end, progress won out over tradition....

A fiddler on the roof, sounds crazy, no?? But in our little website of ay-ziggy-zoomba, you might say, we're all like a fiddler on the roof!![/i]

Indeed, you did. I assure everyone Grant worked long and hard to see if he could retain the post history and registrations, but it just wasn't possible.

What you need now is to define the ranks for the number of posts users have. Not sure of the best system to use...maybe one of the higher ones could be the "Falcon Club", but you start out as a "Falcon Kid". ::Grin::

Egg -> Chick -> Fledgling -> Peregrine :-) I like it!! Now all I have to do is figure out how to implement it!

:groan:

There's a section in the admin panel that lets you specify ranks. But....do we really want to? :P

That's true because then I'm certain we'll have some people just post needless posts like I've seen on other message boards just to get the highest ranking. Either way it doesn't bother me.

True...but that is what you have moderators for...I think it just adds to the atmosphere.

I do like the evolving falcon bit though. I live on the near west side of Cleveland, and I have run across photographers on near the escarpment down into the flats taking pictures of the underbelly of the Innerbelt Bridge (I-90). I thought this was rather odd, so I asked them what they were doing and aparently a Peregrine Falcon makes its nest there.

Gotta love it when the moderators join in on the forum abuse. ;)
