I would say that whoever made that statement is dead wrong.

Say what you want about Ryan (I have before) but he played because he could do things on the court, namely, make threes. Eyink was serviceable, if not solid.

Sounds like Cory Ryan was a friend of yours, so I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Cory Ryan could SHOOT threes.....he just couldn't MAKE threes, as you've said. The facts are that he averaged nearly 30 minutes of playing time each game his senior season. Supposedly a "shooter", he made only 38% from the field and 28% from beyond the arc. He only made 71% of his free throws, with nobody guarding him. Eyink may have been serviceable, but you can't win championships with serviceable players....in fact you can't finish better than 14-17, as they did that year.

Ryan and Eynk were capable players who logging too many minutes at the expense of other players on the roster who didn't see action at all. Both were OK, but other players were left on the bench to rot while they played full time.

a) He was not a friend of mine. Like I said, I've said plenty of times on here how I in fact couldn't stand him. You choose to highlight his numbers, which is fine, they don't lie. I'd rather highlight his clutch play at certain points that season, like a three to beat Eastern (?) at home to keep the team in winnable-game range in the first round of the MAC tournament.

b) Like I said in the REST OF MY POST, he played 30 minutes because he also did other things, namely play solid defense and lead the team, which surpirsed the heck out of me, because, like I said, he always seemed to me to be a jerkoff.

c) Like I said, again, in the rest of my post, Eyink played that year because they had four scholarship players. He played because he worked hard, played good defense. And was a main reason they won 14 games, not 5. Clearly you can't win championships with guys like Eyink playing significant minutes..But were they going to win a championship that season? Read my post again. The odds were stacked against them that year.

I like you manipulating the quote function, but come on, I think most of the board can see right through it.
