I wouldn't be too worried guys. I am pretty sure the PD made a mistake.

It was in the print edition and Nick G. (Vandelay) can verify it, but like I said.......I think it is a mistake.

Let me guess, you were reading Roger Brown.

He rarely gets information correct - specifically in the realm of high school commits.

It's in what looks to be more of a graphic than block of text, which would explain why it appears in the print edition but not online searches.

It's nothing more than a long alphabetical list of all PD area high school seniors expected to sign with Division 1 schools today. Basically 3 columns in a big gray box, one listing name, one high school, and one college. They show Mahone and Pronty to BG, and Brown, Skylaar Constant, Jared DeWalt, Bruce Frieson, and Alex Steigerwald to UT.

ESPN has a list going, with scouting reports on some.

http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiti ... ?confId=15

Here's Jahmal Brown's:
Brown is a hardnosed, tough runner with great balance and a low center of gravity. He reminds us of former Syracuse running back James Mungro, only not as fast. He is low to the ground and shows excellence patience and vision to and through the hole. He is shifty and always keeps his legs churning and pumping. Breaks a lot of tackles and is tough to get a beat on. Looks like he is not moving very fast, but he is deceptive. He has decent elusiveness and good hip flexibility which allows him to move laterally very well to avoid tacklers. He has good hands and is an adequate receiver out of the backfield. The problem with Brown is that he lacks great speed and make you miss ability. He will come up with big runs and chunks of yardage where he breaks a lot of tackles and gain extra yards, but he is not going to be an explosive guy that is a threat to go the distance everytime he touches it. He is a solid competitor and good runner that is tough to bring down.
Sounds more like Michael Hart than James Mungro, to me.

Glad Brown is on board

Im glad that Jamal Brown will be a Falcon. I saw this kid play in the playoffs and he was very solid in the running game. His team mate that is going to Toledo is Alex Stiegerwald and he is a very above average kicker. One more thing to add about the Plain Dealer.....they always mess up so dont gete too worried.

UT's completely signed class is listed on toledorockets.com and does not have Brown among the group.
UT is listed in the 2004 edition of The Unofficial, Unbiased Guide to the 328 Most Interesting Colleges by Trent Anderson and Seppy Basili as one of the U.S. schools with the “Most Beautiful Urban Campus.”

That's good, because BG's list is on bgsufalcons.com and *does* have Brown among the group.

Wouldn't THAT have been confusing!!

And Dewalt is the kid from Brush that I mentioned in another thread who the PD originally (some time ago) had him committed to W.Va., then to Toledo....but now signed with Akron.... did he change his mind TWICE or did someone goof again? As I've said before, Bob Fortuna of the PD is usually "spot on" when it comes to his writing, but I guess anyone can make a mistake.... after all UT and BG ARE both in NW Ohio, right?

They goofed. Dewalt verballed to Toledo quite a while back. He decommitted and verballed to Akron after his official visit there, but then after visiting Toledo he decommitted Akron and re-verballed to Toledo and stayed that way until he signed with Toledo. He did reportedly have an offer from WVU late though, but decided to stick with Toledo.

I did learn tonight that Jahmal did initially commit to Toledo and then changed to BG. I don't think I had ever heard that previously, but may I just forgot!!

Interesting. I didn't hear that either. I did get to hear that two of our players originally committed to Miami and then changed to UT. Another committed to Akron and then changed to UT. And the best one was another player that told one of the coaches that he told NIU "no way" and then told Akron "nope, I'm going to Toledo" when both schools offered him.

Akron's recruiting cracks me up a bit. They really lost a lot of kids to other MAC schools, so then they decided to take some serious risks on kids with academic problems that other schools were not willing to take. They got these kids to sign and their class looks pretty decent on the outside because of it.......but let's see how many of them are still around 2 or 3 years from now. IMO, they took a hit this year and it might not be felt for a couple of years.
