This is what's so amazing about this issue is that even the most devoted MAC fans don't have a clue about why this system is so corrupt. The sponsorships (which help generate the billions in revenue) are the true criminals here. ABC has an extensive contract with college football which prevents a playoff from happening. Included with this would be the University Presidents that have the crabbish attitude to keep the funds in-house.

I'd rather have a system which allows all 119 teams the possibility to play in a big money game! I linked a previous article on how a playoff could and should look by a dreamer, and I'll tell you all that it's the most realistic playoff system I've seen to this date. This new system would change the conferences too based on location, region and fan base as well. Fans actually play apart in a teams success which is really unique, but also neat as well.

I don't think a recruit even looks at the finances of a football program. I would think they look at

1. who is winning,
2. who is going to bowl games,
3. are they going to give me a scholarship, and
4. do I have a shot at playing immediately.

5. Do I like the coaches?
6. Do I like the college and its atmosphere?
7. Just for Brandon Jackson, does the college have my intended major available? :)

Obviously certain basketball players from prior years never stopped to consider these two items.

Another reason to have a playoff.................

Post by Falconboy »

Attendance. Yes , attendance could be raised when you have all teams have an fighting chance at competing for a national championship. You could say that the reason why some of our BG people are so loyal or would rather watch OSU on tv than watch our own hometown college team is that the Buckeye fans have national championship asperations every single year. Thats what gets them going and so intenlsy interested in OSU over BG. There are of course other reasons besides that , but that is one small reason that could be a difference.

Its possible , just possible that more people might look at a typical Mac game at the Doyt a little differently if they knew that winning these games , winning the Mac and such could mean so much more than a "podunk" bowl game in Detroit or Mobile. The possibilty of landing more 3 and 4 star recruits, when a recruit sees that the're now is a possiblity of playing for a huge game like a national championship game at a Mac school besidese the usual big BCS schools. I don't know just something to think about.

I'm amazed we're still talking about playoff. It won't happen folks. The NCAA is making too much money off the BCS.

Great points. Attendance and recruiting would be helped at all non-BCS schools if your conference champion was guaranteed to be in the "college football sweet 16". Given that the MAC champ would likely be the 13th-15th seed each year, that guarantees a game against one of the elites in December on national TV.
