Jessica Guyer Earns MAC Gymnast of the Week

Earns first MAC Gymnast award of her career

Feb. 6, 2006

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University gymnast Jessica Guyer has been named Mid American Conference Gymnast of the Week according to the conference office (Feb. 6) for her performance against Northern Illinois University Saturday night.

Guyer is receiving this award for the first time after her strong performances on vault, beam, and floor. Guyer's first routine was on the vault. She scored a 9.725, which tied her for third. Next she displayed her balance skills on the beam where she recorded her personal best (9.750) on the season and a tie for first. She would finish the night on the floor, where she flipped her way to another season best (9.775) and an outright win on the floor. The Orange and Brown would fall a few tenths of a point short against the Huskies.

Next week Guyer and the Falcons will look to knock off MAC opponent, Ball State at Muncie Indian. The meet will be this Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Hey Transfer, do you know how Candice Deacon is doing? Sorry I didn't get the chance to stop over and say hi during the match. You seemed pretty intense up there though :P

She has torn her MCL and most likely ACL as well. According to Kerrie Beach, she is in good spirits but will be out the rest of this season.

I'm always intense when the match is close. More jovial when we're up pretty big. Saturday ngiht was defintely a painful night losing Candice and Marie.
