The 2006 Wisconsin game will be the first time BG hosts a Big 10 team.
And now this 2008 Minnesota game will be the first time BG hosts a Big 10 team at the Doyt.

I believe the thought was to bring in temporary bleachers. UT used to do this for big games. You can rent them for a few days, install them a day or two before the game and uninstall them the next day.transfer2BGSU wrote:Shortsighted - NO. There is no need to put in more seats into the Doyt just because of one game a season. We don't fill up the place now as it is. I say keep the seating where it is at and when we bring in the teams that people want to see, let them pay to see those teams. Make it the ticket to get. Contrary to popular belief (or the belief of TU fans in Lucas County) you do not need to have a stadium of 30,000+ seats to be able to enjoy a football game.BGSUfalcons wrote:Wow, that is both selfish and shortsighted.
Selfish - NO.
Sarcastic - Most definitely.
Actually Kent's Dix Stadium holds over 30,000 while Canton's Fawcett Stadium holds just a little over 22,000 so any move of that game to Canton wouldn't be for capacity purposes.BGSUfalcons wrote:I noticed that their 2006 game at Kent St. was listed at either Kent or Canton. I wonder if BG's game might become another "home" game at Cleveland. Certainly, that beats a road game, but I have my fingers crossed that the game would be at the Doyt. Since the capacity is down to 24,000, I think temp. seating would be needed in the south endzone.

I didn't mean to imply that it was.doughash wrote:Actually Kent's Dix Stadium holds over 30,000 while Canton's Fawcett Stadium holds just a little over 22,000 so any move of that game to Canton wouldn't be for capacity purposes.BGSUfalcons wrote:I noticed that their 2006 game at Kent St. was listed at either Kent or Canton. Dix Stadium holds 30k? Even with the new seating I find that to be a great stretch.doughash wrote:Actually Kent's Dix Stadium holds over 30,000 while Canton's Fawcett Stadium holds just a little over 22,000 so any move of that game to Canton wouldn't be for capacity purposes.BGSUfalcons wrote:I noticed that their 2006 game at Kent St. was listed at either Kent or Canton. Anyone have the list of them?
I know it's Ohio State, Wisconsin, Boise State, and Florida International - anyone have the dates?

According to Kent's official website it seats 30,520.kdog27 wrote:Dix Stadium holds 30k? Having moved out west, I've come to find a very funny truth in life: outside of the Midwest, no one really gives a sh!t about Michigan or Ohio State, or their rivalry for that matter. You'd never know it living in Ohio, but there are more than a billion people in China that don't know the OSU/Michigan game is happening every year...ZuluWarrior wrote:I can't believe we gave up another Michigan game for a second tier Big Ten "home" game.
drip, drip, drip...

Thanks for the link. I haven't been there in a few years so i have not seen the new grandstand but that still surprises me.rocketfootball wrote:According to Kent's official website it seats 30,520.kdog27 wrote:Dix Stadium holds 30k?
