Don't remember the year, but we were driving into the end zone to vanquish the hated Rockets, and Chip Otten fumbled inside the five with less than 2:00 left. Ripped my heart right from my chest.

However, the lowest of the low came in the 2nd half when the BG cheerleaders decided to start cheering for the other team. THAT was an all time low and absolutely my worst memory as a Falcon fan. Watching BG's cheerleaders begin cheering for Michigan far outweighs any losses that we suffered on the field in my time as a fan.

W ..... T ...... F!!!!

I've never heard this before.
Oh, it happened. There was quite an uproar in the BG News as well. The cheerleaders said they were being hospitable and doing one cheer for the opponent or something like that. What I know is that BG cheerleaders in Orange and Brown were standing on the brick wall of the $h!tHouse and leading UM fans in a cheer. It certainly seemed longer than just one cheer too!

I tried to look on the BG News site to get the Archives, but they don't have anything from September 2000 archived :( I'm hoping McMetz can hook me up with an old archive, so I can post a link or something here.

It was a dark day.

I thought it was simpler.

I thought someone on the BG cheer squad lost a bet to the Michigan cheer squad.

That was a miserable moment.

Flipper,
You're right....Cleve Bryant WAS the guy... maybe the title of this thread, "worst memory", is starting to take hold more than this old guy wants to admit...

Cal Poly

By far the worst BGSU football memory is enshrined in the college football hall of fame. On October 29th, 1960, the Cal Poly football team plane crashed in dense fog @ Toledo Express Airport killing many members of team and travel group. This is after BGSU had beaten them 50-6.
A little known fact is that a Cal Poly graduate assistant stayed behind to recruit--his name John Madden--thus his fear of flying.
Also the Cal Poly quarterback that day was Ted Tollner--who went onto be head coach @ USC.
Truly a sad day for NCAA football and in particular BGSU football/

[6. 9-4-1999: Drive all the way to Pittsburgh (that's where I met the Freak, BTW. Tailgated next to him...) to see us outplay and outgain Pitt, but lose by 20?!

FF! No doubt. Although it was only a 2 hr drive to Pittsburgh from Akron, BG had a 220-61 advantage in total offense at the half and trailed 10-7.

We outgained Pitt 325-210 or so but the Panthers had a couple huge punt returns and an INT return as well. BG used up over 12 min of the 4th quarter to drive all the way down the field and settle for a very short FG????
We lost 30-10 in a game we should have won by 2 td's. :x

Is 12 minutes hyperbole? I'd love to see a box score that spelled it out.

I was there, too. That was one *long* drive. I mean *long*!

I wonder what point it was that Blackney decided the Falcons weren't going to win that game. Was it at the start of the drive? The middle? When was it?

They should never have kicked that field goal.

The Falcons played well that day -- it was 10-7 at the half -- but it was so frustrating to watch Blackney seem to give up early. Maybe it had to do with the defense the Panthers were running. I don't know.
