Under Texas state Law that does not mean it was alcohol related. Certain Level of prescription meds can classify as DUI in Texas. He was taking pain medicine

I'm not getting on your case here but does that necessarily make it any better? A couple pain pills can be just as dangerous as alcohol.

They were talking about this on ESPN and were like wait a minute it might only be pain killers. Well they obviously had an impact if he was left of center.

W're talking about Eddie Sutton, Oklahoma State's coach, right? The incident took place in Stillwater. Pardon me if I am way off base here...

You are correct -- it happened in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma's DUI laws also apply to a wide range of substances.

I don't believe Sutton ever coached for Texas, but he's been around since the Roman Empire so I guess anything's possible.

He has coached at Arkansas, Kentucky, and Okie St.

Still not sure where the Texas angle came in to play...?

I admire Eddie Sutton a great deal. He knew he had a problem when he was at Kentucky, and he got help with that problem. Unfortunately, he let the demons of the past get to him on Friday night. But he has come out and apologized not only to the university, but also his players, the fans, and most importantly, to the driver of the other car. He is going to get treatment again, and try to be a better person from this. Sometimes, when you are in way more pain than you are capable of handling, you tend to do things that you know you shouldn't. Coach Sutton did that. But he has shown nothing but remorse, and I really don't believe this is remorse because something bad happened. I believe he really knows that he let down quite a few people, and that he truly hurts from his actions. I hope that he gets better soon, and that he can watch his son coach his beloved Cowboys for a long time to come.

"I have a problem with alcohol," Sutton said. "That said, I make no excuses for what has happened. I recognize it and I will be seeking treatment for it. I know I have let many people down."
