YES!!! It's about time we broke into the frickin rankings. We've been massively underrated all year, and I think we still are at #25, but at least we'll gain some recognition here. Since our two games this week are against cupcake opponents Akron and Buffalo, we might be looking to move up more if #'s 20-24 stumble this week. As I've said before, the only game left on our schedule that scares me is when Kent State comes to AA a week from Wednesday. We should cream the other teams remaining, of those other 4 teams we have left to play, Ohio (4-7 in conference) is the biggest threat.jacojdm wrote:and here's the actual poll.

I still think it's an absolute joke that Vanderbilt is ranked ahead of us when they have 8 losses. That's terrible. They shouldn't be in the top 50 with that record, much less the top 25.
while i certainly appreciate your enthusiasm and your love for the lady falcons, it seems like you might need to learn some more about women's college basketball on the whole. vanderbilt plays in the sec, which is one of the tougher conferences in women's basketball. two of the top twenty teams (LSU and georgia) are SEC members, along with vandy at 21. six of their eight losses have come against some stiff competition in #2 north carolina, #3 LSU, #17 ASU, twice to #5 tennessee, and nc state (who is receving votes). pollsters look at more than simply wins and losses when dtermining the rankings. the biggest factor isn't how many games a team has lost, but rather to whom and how the games have been lost. unfortunately, we cannot boast the same type of competition (they beat our only common opponent, miami, by 32). vandy's sos is 32, and our's is FIVE TIMES lower at 160.bgsufalcon24 wrote: I still think it's an absolute joke that Vanderbilt is ranked ahead of us when they have 8 losses. the bottom line is, as has been said several times, there is still a large gap between the upper echelon teams in women's basketball, and everyone else. that's not to say that there aren't some very good teams out there, but there's such a HUGE difference IMO talent wise between the top 12 or so teams and progerams and everyone else.
we have a very talented team, and outside of those 10-14 top notch teams, i think we can play with anyone, and have the opportunity to beat most anyone. fact is, though, rankings are just some folks, most of whom have never seen our team play (besides coach miller, only three other voters have faced our team head to head over the past two seasons - wintrhop in 2004 at brown, st. francis, and delaware). while the ranking is nice, beating a team on paper on a weekly basis isn't what's most important. beating teams on the hardwood is, and it's something i think we'll do lots more of before the season is over. i think we'll win out, win the mac, and have a great shot at some mild upsets and landing in the sweet 16.
thanks to mr. rice for proofreading.

:DThis a great tribute to Curt Miller, the coaches and of course the ladies. They are an exciting team to watch. I hope the rest of the nation gets a chance to see the intensity and teamwork of this AWESOME FALCON team. I will be trying to study and listen to the game 2nite. Good Luck!
