Akron had a chance to get on the bubble with a win at Nevada. The bracket buster didn't do the MAC any favors. No real TV games, then they send one of our best teams to Nevada. They were on a plane the morning after beating us. If Akron could win out and thats a big if, they would be 25-6 going into the conference tournament final. That would put them on the bubble but they would need lots of help. I hate to say it but it looks like the MAC will be luckey to get 2 NIT bids this year. As for BG, they have been overmatched much of the year but have played with alot of heart. That wasn't the case Sat., once Wright St. got hot and opened up that big lead we gave up.

I thought the crowd was great for a non-conference game. Too bad we played so bad.

It doesn't help that the reporter doing the rankings is 14 years old...nice 8th grade picture of Timmy!

Also, do you think any MAC team could compete with the 7 through 12 seeds (minus Rutgers) in the Big East who also got shafted? We have nothing to complain about.

I think we should be very happy for our cousins in the MVC- a very similar conference that has been shafted like our own in years past.

I'll wait until the tourney selections are made before being happy for them, as they could still get shafted this year.

OK Don't confuse me with a Kent fan... but 8 consecutive 20 win seasons!

If they have 23 wins don't get in it is CRAP! The program (and conference) has earned it.

I don't care who you are or where you play... 8 consecutive 20 winers...

That's a strong program over there. I don't think our program has ever had that kind of sustained success. It shows success can be kept going.

Kent has sustained success across 3 tenures: Gary Waters, Stan Heath, and Jim Christian. They had some good luck in hiring. Christian has been recruiting very well and will have Kent solid for next year. They have two good young forwards in Knight and Scott, a quick guard in Mincy, and will return Gates and Omni Smith as well. They're recruited the 2nd best PF out of MI for next year (hoopfactor.com).

What's particularly interesting is that Kent has lost some significant talent to transfers as well. They've also had a number of highly regarded recruits not pan out.

It all started with Gary Waters. He practically got Stan Heath that Arkansas gig. Last week I mentioned on this board that Waters might be available as a head coach next year and that if Dakich is not back (I know, big if), BG should seriously consider him. As a mid-major coach, Waters is as good as it gets. The problem with him at Rutgers is that he's probably dealing with a bunch of prima donnas who think they should be playing at UConn.

Kent does a really good job in recruiting Juco players. Plus, they redshirt players. They lost Cutley and Crenshaw from last year's team, however, it hasn't really mattered too much. I'm a big fan of Kent's chances this year. I would be surprised if Akron is able to overtake them in the MAC tournament.
