The complete new rankings are up on ESPN.com now. Texas A&M fell out of the rankings with their two losses this week, but Utah came in from off the charts and passed us into 24th. I am EXTREMELY baffled as to why 9-loss Vanderbilt is still in front of us.

La Tech beats 2 creampuffs and moves up 4 spots. La Tech has played a similar schedule to ours, has 4 losses, and is ranked 5 spots ahead of us.

Utah beats two creampuffs and leaps us to 24th.

BC loses two games and MOVES UP A SPOT?!?! I don't care if they played the Pistons twice. You shouldn't get to move up by losing. Twice.

BYU loses their only game to Wyoming, a team receiving a whopping one vote in the poll, and they stand fast at 18? BYU has played a schedule similar to ours, has 3 losses, and is ranked 7 spots ahead of us.

This poll is bizarre. This is more clear evidence to me that we better win the MAC tourney. I don't trust these people (the committee) to put us in the NCAA tourney if they aren't forced to.

I am no expert on women's sports, and this is my probably my first post in the women's forum (compared to like 3,000 in football  ), but I was investigating the rankings this morning to see where we might move up to. I think I counted NINE teams that were ranked like 12 and lower that lost last week. I was thinking, 'Wow, we could like move up to about 20 or so!' Guess that shows why I am no expert on women's basketball. :ugh:

No, it shows you have common sense, as opposed to some of the voters in these polls.

I guess you could say the teams we are playing are creampuffs and we have had a few come from behind wins that won't help our cause. The women just have to keep winning like coach Miller said. Don't worry about the polls, worry about what you can control which is the games being played. If they win out and that's including the automatic bid in Cleveland we won't have to worry about someone screwing the team over in the tournament selection.

I'm upset a little bit because I do think that we should be ranked 24th or 23rd.

Allow me to get into this a little further. The only reason we are not getting more national respect, is because of our strength of schedule. Ours is around 180-190, while for instance La tech's is around 100. I don't think there is a big difference between 100 and 180 in WCB. I think that after the top 100 teams in the country, the field really levels off. I would be very interested to hear HoustonFalcon's take on this since he no doubt know more about it than I do. I mean, is there really a big difference between:

Texas Arlington (103 RPI) http://sports.espn.go.com/ncw/clubhouse?teamId=250

and

Robert Morris (181 RPI)?? http://sports.espn.go.com/ncw/clubhouse?teamId=2523

On top of that, if you look closer, we have a couple of games to hang our hat on. We won at Indiana (50 RPI) by 18 points. We played terribly in a loss to Delaware (66 RPI) on a neutral court. We took UK (20 RPI) to OT at their house. We beat Eastern (78 RPI) by 7? at home.

Bottom line is I don't think that strength of schedule matters all that much once you get into the hundreds. We're still going to keep getting dinged for it unfortunately.

I know the team doesn't worry about it, but I do. :) Worrying about and analyzing this trivial crap is fun for me.

Exactly! Kent State has beaten BG 5 straight in our house. We haven't beaten them in AA since 97! :x That must stop.

We clinch the East title with a win. The rankings are nice but they make no sense.

JUST KEEP WINNING, BABY!

This is one case where history doesn't mean a darn thing. I mean, we beat them at Kent for the first time in a while earlier this season, and our win over EMU, that was the first time we beat them in quite a while too. We are all about smashing records and streaks this year, and I don't see any reason we can't pull down our 14th straight win tomorrow night. It'll be a battle though.

The only difference in the two teams is the conference they play in. The southland schedules a lot of the top Big 12 teams. UTA is not that good, and we would destroy them. I have watched UTA play, and have a good friend of mine on the coaching staff. They are a one player team, and would not be able to handle us inside. Their point guard is the only real player they have. I am really curious why a few of these teams are still in the top 25, and especially ahead of us, I can't give any real insight on that one. I too expected us to jump up a few spots this week. UTA doesn't have any decent teams on their nonconference schedule really, except South Florida and Florida. Robert Morris doesn't have any. There is no real difference between the two schools. Neither of them would be a top tier team in the MAC,and BG would beat both of them pretty easily. I have no doubt about that. We should be ranked ahead of New Mexico, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, and probably Boston College. Although with Boston College, I think being competitive with UNC kept them in the polls where there at. I would say that BG should have been around the 22-23 range. It's just a case of the mid majors in womens basketball still not being considered good enough to hang with the big girls of the game. Not fair, but that's what we have to live with, for now.

In my haste to do everything in my power to check J4H's ego, I totally forgot to add my inane commentary on the rankings! My appolgies to my fans!*

What I think is total crap is that we only recieved 37 more votes than last week - we are still 33 votes out of 24th place. That, my friends, is the sincerest of bullshit. Weak schedule my AZZ...

* - I'm going to start doing that more, appologizing to my fans. I mean, they have to be out there, right? :P
