Something has got to change already
Logging onto here today, I cannot believe I am reading this information about Wright leaving on top of everything else we've gone through already. Much to my own surprise after everything that has happened with this team and program over the years….I’m actually stunned. For whatever reason we have lost yet ANOTHER player, I am just sick and tired of it all already. And guess what, Wright isn't likely to be the only one we lose again this season. The losing seasons, players transferring, quitting or getting kicked off the team, our fan base diminishing, and watching our once-proud program turn into a the kind of program we now have, it's enough already. And most of all, I am sick of all the excuses – from everyone – from our coaches, the players, the fans (including myself). Who are we all trying to convince or kid here anymore? Something has got to change, and now. The coaches say it’s all because of this, the players say it’s all because of that, but the bottom line is, there are problems with our program at BG. We can't and won't win again with the problems we have and are facing every year. And year after year after year of this going on, all the excuses in the world can’t solve the problem that we have. Something has got to change, period. This has gone on long enough and I for one have about had it up to here already and I know I’m not alone. I’m just so tired of there being nothing positive to discuss about our program while all this other BS about our program builds up over and over and over.
I honestly believe we are in need of a new approach, new direction and a new start all the way around. We clearly have shown over the years that putting bandages on our wounds won’t make them heal, because year after year they get worse. It’s just like I said after the Wright State debacle, just when things look like they can’t get any worse, they do. And I promise you, more is in store.

GO BG!!!
When you say "up to here" is your hand at your neck or your forehead? If it is only at your neck, I think you could take a little more. But, if your hand is at your forehead, I think you are being very rationale.
I like that steak comes from cows. That is why a cow will not think twice about eating you.
I can dunk a basketball and I can't jump high enough to show you how high? Is that high enough?!BGorDeath wrote:When you say "up to here" is your hand at your neck or your forehead? As many threads as there are problems that we have with this program right now, so buckle up. Seriously though, I read a post you made in another thread and you made some good points. I think there’s no doubt we all just want things to work out already and for BG to get back to the type of program it was and can be. But with everything that has gone on over the years for whatever reasons, it has become embarrassing for our team, program, and most disappointing, our school. Enough is enough.HoustonFalcon wrote:How many threads is everyone going to open about the same topic?

Exactly, and on top of it all, Harold Anderson must be rolling over in his grave with the turn in direction of our program over the last several years to right now.Tricky_Falcon wrote:I read the post by HoustonFalcon and BGSU33 both good points. I'm on board, 33. If I'm the AD examining the current status of the basketball program, there are certain elements that are simply intolerable.
For every "legitimate" defection there have been others that are self-inflicted due to poor research about the personality of the player that lead to things like homesickness or fueds with Dakich. Whatever the circumstances, 3 losing seasons in 4 years is cause for serious concern.
Coach Dakich is a great person who has won his share of games, but more and more I question if the program would best be served with a change in leadership. It's a bottom-line business, and Coach Dakich probably realizes that better than anyone.

I know what you mean. I remember when I found out about Lewis leaving BG, I was on the start of a vacation down in San Antonio. The news pretty much ruined that day of my vacation and I promised myself that I wouldn’t look at the board the rest of the time I was away. Over the last few years, it seems nearly every time I come on board, I find myself holding my breath not to see this kind of news or read about the type of things that just continue to go on and on. We are a program in need of a fix in many, many ways.BGFan wrote:I've got to stop coming to the BB forum. Too depressing.

Ditto. No one supports the program, the coaches, or players anymore. I'll admit that I'm not a big basketball fan but I do support BGSU. Let's not forget Dakich was re-hired by Paul Krebs. It's sad to say, but I wouldn't be surprised if Dakich feels stabbed in the back by all the fans. Hell, the "Anti-Dan's" have at least 10 threads asking for his resignation.BGFan wrote:I've got to stop coming to the BB forum. Too depressing.
I hope you never have to go through this kind of public humiliation in your jobs.

Couldn't have said it any better. I think Dakich handles himself with incredible grace and dignity throughout these times...imagine if all of your issues and all of your failures at work were open for public speculation and ridicule. If you take a walk in another's shoes, you might be a little less eager to attack them. I'm sure that there are plenty of issues on the team, not just with the coaching staff, that could be causing some of these problems. Maybe conflicts between players could be a cause of Wright leaving, and maybe other players have threatened to leave due to teammate conflict, and damage control had to be done. I know I know, that can't be to blame for every single player that has left. Wanting to be closer to mommy and daddy, selfish motives, wanting more playing time at a lower quality school (D-2 or 3), or what have you have been some of the causes of departures. These factors cannot be blamed for all of the cases of players leaving. But neither can Coach Dakich for the same reasons. Every single one of those departures has a story and a reason behind it, some of them at the fault of Dakich and probably most of them not. For him to spill the gossip to everyone would clear his own name, but it would certainly be lacking class. Maybe one day, we will know exactly what has happened with this program. Maybe one day, Coach will be able to sit down and answer everyone's questions so that we find out what has REALLY been going on. Until then, all we have is pointless speculation, finger pointing, and lashing out at a man who is just trying to do his job in the very judgmental public eye.

People can discuss valid concerns about the program and still support it. There is no back-stabbing; people are expressing their concerns on an open forum. That's what people do when there is a problem. I think the term "public humiliation" is extreme, but if a person can't handle this type of criticism, then he has no business being a Division I basketball coach (though I think Dakich is thick-skinned enough to not be concerned with a group of fans having these conversations).[/quote]No one supports the program, the coaches, or players anymore.
