omar mentioned in espn chat today
Just my thoughts
In regards to Omar and his pending success or doom in the NFL in my opinion involves what team gets him. Frye basically showcased himself in the Senior Bowl when he had talented players blocking and receiving for him. A major factor. He will have success in Cleveland, only after Romeo puts guys in front of him to protect.
Big Ben fell into a perfect team, which also happens to be my favorite, Big Fan of Pittsburgh since I was little. Born there but grew up in Columbus Ohio. Ben has protection, great running game and excellent receivers, although I hope they draft a Plaxico type 6-6 receiver in the draft this year. When Ben misses he misses high. He has been successful and will continue to be because he plays a role on the team and can carry it when needed but at times other players step up and support him. He doesn't have to do it all by himself.
Omar has the size and capability to play in the NFL, which is why everyone is excited about him. The arm strength is there from everything I read about him and have seen so, I think someone will get him. Don't really want to speculate but I just vision him wearing red and white with a big Cardinal on the side of it. or maybe the Cheifs. Time to learn the system and improve under nice coaching and tutored by experienced pro quarterbacks.
Either way, I am pulling for him. I think BG can use the prestige associated with Omar and with some luck, maybe Josh in the event something happens to Eli.

Very well said and correct about Big Ben missing high, when he misses. I think he tries to aim the ball or his mechanics get a little off. Sometimes he doesn't show the confidence in his reads and becomes tenative (pump fake short) with his short throws. Though I didn't see that in the first 3 playoff games.

It's a product of the happy feet he gets sometime. He has really good feel for the rush, but sometimes he tries to scramble a little early, then realizes he has time and flings one across the middle. Those are the ones I saw go high most often.
Omar is just as physically gifted as Ben. He has yet to show the same leadership and intangibles on the field. If he can develop those skills, I have no doubt he can be a successful NFL QB.

MACMAN
[quote="Sweets9"]I think Omar goes 4th round or later. And do you really want Mel Kiper to say "I really don't know" rather than give his opinion (which is much more credible than ours)?
Seriously, some of you need to take off the Brown & Orange glasses. I think Omar is a better QB prospect than Harris was, but let's look at a few things:
A -- he didn't really play the stiffest competition
B -- he has a weird delivery
C -- he's coming out early after a somewhat lukewarm season
D -- didn't play in a pro-style offense
Now they said all the same things about each of the MAC QBs, why becasue these are members of the media. Where by if the player is not from a BCS conference, they some how have no shot in the NFL. So for credibility...that is like believing Rebbeca P{eters and George Sorros dont want to ban "all Guns".
AS for throwing motion...there are some qb greats who are always refered to as having a quirkey motion...John, Joe, joe etc...
The draft is like anything eles, the best precieved players will be drafted first, by teams with the specific need.
Omar is a second or third round guy, who should see success in the NFL in some form as he grows. he may not end up a starter, he may be the go to back up, or he could even cross over and catch the ball at some point (doubtfull) but stranger things have happend.

Just wanted to share some food for thought.....Don't be too quick to think Josh's "out of the game." Everyone in the League doesn't have the quick, Ben Roethlisberger-type success. It would be awesome but then we wouldn't have the same story to share. For some, (like us) it takes time. Kurt Warner played in the arena league (and had to work a PT job at a grocery store to make ends meet at one point in his career), Doug Flutie played in Canada....These all great QB names in the NFL!! I can even recall a time when no one even knew who Tom Brady was! (Sad, but true!)
Now, I'm not saying Josh is a future Pro-Bowler, (that's up to him and God's plan), but what I am saying is...don't count him out. His road to success in the NFL has taken lots of twists, turns, and detours, but he's still driving!! For those with FAITH....keep on believing!
We're doing great by the way! And will be moving to NY next month so he can start training in the off-season program. (Go Giants!) Jacob is awesome. Nine months old and crawling all over the place. (His picture is to the left)
Hope everyone is great! Keep us in your prayers!

Thanks for the update and pic, Tami... Jacob's got some good size to him already, it appears!
Glad to hear from both Harrises on here, and to hear that things are going well. Best wishes on every path this crazy life keeps taking you guys down!!!

Tami,
Thanks so much for taking the time to update us on the latest goings-on in the Harris family. I truly appreciate your positive outlook and more importantly the role that faith and His plan play in your life. Keep up the good fight sister. All things WILL work for the good.
