Possibilities are Lake Superior, Northern Michigan, Ohio State, Alaska Fairbanks, Ferris State, or Notre Dame.
No one would go to Alaska so we hope not there, Northern would be one hell of a trip so hopefully not there. Lake Superior was a hell of a trip during the season but it's a possibility people will travel 6 hours. Ferris St. is about a 4.5 hour drive, but it's not that bad. Small shitty town but we can beat that team. Notre Dame would be a short drive but we've already lost bad twice there and went 0-1-1 at home against them. Let's just say it now, let's all hope for OSU. We've owned them this year and have already gone 1-0-1 against them at OSU. Shortest drive out of the possibilities and probably the best chance for a win. Most likely we'll get Lake or Alaska, but I hope not. What is everyone elses opinion?
Where will we be in the playoffs?

A note on OSU. IF they host a first round series (notice BIG IF), they need to find somewhere to play it. The Schott is booked for the OHSAA Wrestling Tournament, Nationwide Arena has Arnold Fitness (I think), and the State Fairgrounds Colessium is booked. That leaves the OSU Ice Rink as the probable location of the series. The OSU Ice Rink has a 185' x 85' ice surface and seats about 1800. Regulation ice is 200' x 85'. Maybe, if OSU ends up hosting BG, they can move the games to BG for the increased seating capacity
Records against each team:
LSSU 0-2
NMU 2-0
OSU 2-1-1
UAF 0-2
FSU 0-2
ND 0-3-1
So against teams we could travel to, we have a 4-14-2 record. As sweet as it would be to wipe out OSU again, I don't really like the idea of playing them. Just the mindset going into the game could be costly for us. ND owes us big time after the two big games they had. UAF should have a death wish by our players because of last season's playoffs. I really like our chances of going into UAF and sweeping a first round series like they did to us. Sweet revenge.

Why would the team want to go back to Alaska? Every player hates that trip and it shows on the ice.

Re: Where will we be in the playoffs?
I agree about playing OSU, those games could be scary. OSU has not come close to living up to their expected potential (league dominance) this year and could be a very desperate team during the playoffs. And as much as I would like to see us "pay back" UAF, the trip alone up there is BRUTAL!! (20+ hours of travel, 4 airports...yuck!!!) Having just done it, I am sure NO ONE wants to repeat that trip this soon!!!! I vote for any team other than OSU and UAF!!pdt1081 wrote:So against teams we could travel to, we have a 4-14-2 record. "Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Anyways.. I'd vote for OSU b/c that's the only one I could legitmatly get there to watch. Going back to the old barn would be nice.. Actually it probably wouldn't be half bad. All of the annoying OSU "fans" (you know, the ones who go to OSU hockey for the cheerleaders) who show up to the Schott won't go cuz it won't be as comfortable for them. It would be one hell of an atmosphere there.

I could have sworn that I heard that OSU removed some seating from the ice rink and expanded the ice to 200 X 85 after the Schott went up.pdt1081 wrote:A note on OSU. Dammit. That's what happens when you try to do things from memory :duh:rc_ziggy84 wrote: NMU is 1-1.

I like our chances against UAF, just not the trip. Didn't mean to say I wanted us to go there

Did they? I don't remember hearing anything about that. It is possible. That's where the women's team plays now.BGFan wrote:I could have sworn that I heard that OSU removed some seating from the ice rink and expanded the ice to 200 X 85 after the Schott went up.

Re: Where will we be in the playoffs?
I'm pretty sure they remodeled the whole rink, and expanded the ice since the hockey team could rarely use the Schott for practice. The coach wanted them to at least have regulation ice to practice on.pdt1081 wrote:Did they? I don't remember hearing anything about that. It is possible.
