There isn't a whole hell of a lot being done to draw students to games either.

I cannot tell you how many people I've talked to in this dormitory who have said the same thing about BG athletics. The discussion varies, but the punchline is "BG sports stink." I know many people who are fans of other college teams, most notably OSU and scUM, who simply will not give our Falcons a chance. There seems to be a certain "loser mentality" among the student body of BG, where many students just assume that our teams suck because we don't have the prestige of a big name university or because we don't get much respect nationally.

In fact, I remember taking being with some scUM fans on my floor for the January 21st hockey game against Michigan. They kept wondering how their great team could be losing to a team like BG that is so beneath them. They were talking about THEIR SCHOOL being beneath the opposition when they were being proved wrong!!! Now what does that say?
Well as a student I guess I'm in the minority on this. When I first started coming here back in August I said if BG ever played my favorite college team, Cincinnati, I would cheer for UC, that changed to I would cheer BG over UC in everything but men's ball, and now I want BG to play at UC in basketball, men's or women's, so I can wear orange and brown to the Shoemaker Center. I made these changes because I have fun at the games, no matter if the basketball, football, or hockey teams are doing good or bad, I have fun my friends, and I'm just a sports fan, I'll go to all the games, whether the team is good or bad. To get more students the marketing people need to do more. The only marketing of games I have seen on campus is the signs at AA and these orange things they are starting to put on tables at the dining halls. I think they need to market more in the dorms with signs and posters, as well as more on campus

I will agree that the marketing people have not done nearly enough to get students to come to games.

I can think of three things that will raise attendance right now

1) midgets.....people love midgets. Bounce one off of a trampoline through the hoop. Hey Pee Wee, look out for that backboard!

2) Chimps....dress one or two up as cheerleaders and people will flock to AA

3) Nudity......a tricky one. If implemented carelessly it could spell disaster.

I have long felt that "Cheerleaders don't wear underwear" day would be a big draw to AA.

I have advocated brass poles for the dance team for years.

Well, you do have a naked Homer Simpson as your avatar, so I can see why someone would ask.

True, but that's just because that picture cracks me up. I've had it as my avatar for a long time now, and it still makes me laugh.

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere before, but I doubt if DD is going anywhere if he still has time left on his contract. BG is not the kind of school that fires/buys out coaches unless there is some sort of scandal. Having a crappy team does not equate to a scandal.

The kids are kids: they don't know what they like, they like what they know. If they liked OSU when they were 12, they'll like OSU when they're 18 or 19. BGSU is often considered a cupcake to a lot of schools in some sports. So if a kid was 14 when he saw OSU beat BG in something, and the TV commentators knew everyone on OSU but only two names for the Falcons then BG gets put on the trash-heap punching bags.

When I was there I heard the same garbage. Kids would rather watch a game on TV than go to AA or the Doyt. It was goofy then and it's goofy now.

But what can you expect from a population that consistently ruins perfectly good liquor by adding Red Bull and thinks that a mesh hat is "retro" cool like Ashton Kutcher?

Get off my lawn!!!
and
Go Falcons!!!
