Ohio Mr. Football player Raymond Williams to play at Toledo
FYI, I just saw on the news that former Ohio Mr. Football player Raymond Williams is going to play football at Toledo. I wasn’t aware much of this kid’s story before I saw it on the news, but it appears he was involved in a murder and had his scholarship offer from West Virginia withdrawn because of the incident, etc. It appears he went off to school at Toledo, but was listed as just a student and not on the team. Now, Ohio News Network (ONN) reported today that he will play football at Toledo after all and that Coach Amstutz was quoted saying something about how this is his second chance and he won’t get another, etc. Here were a few news links on the kid that I came across:

Boy, this all sounds familiar for some reason.
It just took a year longer than expected.

The only comment I will make here is that he is not currently a member of the football team. He enrolled in the conditioning class that all football players take. All students at UT are allowed to enroll in this class. Amstutz is also going to allow him to participate in Spring drills with the team and this summer he will decide on whether or not he will let Williams walk onto the team. He is not receiving a scholarship and no decision has been made on whether or not he will be allowed on the team.
Last year, Williams asked to walk onto the UT football team in the fall of 2005 and Amstutz turned him down. This time he asked again and Amstutz is considering giving the kid a chance.

My friend who goes to UT says this class can only be registered for in the Athletic Department's advising office.rocketfootball wrote:The only comment I will make here is that he is not currently a member of the football team. I don't know about where you have to go to register for the class, but ANY UT student can register and enroll in the class. Doesn't matter if you are a student-athlete at UT or not. I guarantee it.BGDrew wrote:My friend who goes to UT says this class can only be registered for in the Athletic Department's advising office.rocketfootball wrote:The only comment I will make here is that he is not currently a member of the football team. I have a feeling it is a pass/fail class and doesn't count toward your major.factman wrote:It must be tough being a student athlete and having to work so hard for those grades at UT ( "really, I can go work out and get an A?") . I bet there are a lot of athletes that are getting C's and D's in that class! Maybe they take it PASS/FAIL!!!
Of course BG has some players that are majoring in recreation so a class like that might count towards their major.

I don't understand the point of your post. First off, I never said UT doesn't have the program. I was showing that BG has the program and therefore a knock on UT is a knock on BG in the same sense. Second, I was really making a joke and apparently you don't know much about jokes and humor.BGDrew wrote:http://www.hhs.utoledo.edu/recleisure/r ... _home.htmlrocketfootball wrote:Of course BG has some players that are majoring in recreation so a class like that might count towards their major.
Third, I bet you BG has a winter conditioning class just like UT does. In fact, I bet all DI-A schools have that class.
Nope, I just get offended when the validity of the program I'm in (SMRT) is questioned. You should really read most of my posts before you assume I "don't know much about jokes and humor." You know what happens when you assume, Amstutz eats a small army.
