Some Omar Combine Articles
I haven't seen these posted here, so I thought I'd put them up. The combine started yesterday, but the QBs don't workout till Sunday. Still found a couple good articles that some of ya'll may wanna read through.

Interesting...the Sun Sentiel article says he's 6'-3 and 7/8". A measurement that exact says somebody has measured him recently. That clears one big hurdle for Omar. I he were substatially under his listed height of 6'-4", that would have really hurt his draft position because his release point is low.
If he were to measure in the 6-2" range, it'd be a huge red flag on him.

If you scroll down a little there is a paragraph on him. Pretty much the same old stuff, but there is some stuff on some other MAC players in there too.

another good item to note is that yesterday, when doing the 5and 7 step drops Omars passes were right on...far better than most of the "prostyle" guys, and when it came to deep ball i dare say Omars passes were tops in his group.
Bruce was doing well as well, they did nail him on arm strength and not being able to throw well in mid and deep ball but he is having a good combine and I agree he will get picked up.

Omar Diary
I didn't see this posted anywhere. Did a search and didn't find anything about 4 pages deep in the results, so here it is:
There appears to be a diary written by Omar on this site. If you scroll down the titles of articles in the middle of the page you will see several articles that appear to be a dialy diary from Omar. Kind of interesting.

Does this mean the dolphins are super high on maybe getting Omar? Looks like there is quite a bit of interest. Would be great for him to return to play near home.

That's some cool stuff. I've read from a number of sources that Miami is very interested in Omar. Some places have even said they are interested in him for pick 16. I doubt that, unless Omar starts building up a lot of hype heading towards the draft. A 2nd or 3rd round Miami selection seems like a real possibility at this point.
Where exactly is Omar working out for the scouts on Pro Day? Fieldhouse? Practice field? Doyt? And more importantly, who wants to sneak over there with a camera?

The Pro Day is March 2nd in BG. If I had to guess, I'd say in the Field House given the weather in early March.

That's what I'm guessing also. The weather is supposed to be cold and rainy -- not exactly prime showcase conditions. I wonder how many scouts will be in attendance...and will the University have any kind of coverage on the event? It should be an interesting week.

Let's not forget that there's more than just Omar who have declared for the draft. Guys like Sharon, Sanders, Pope, Thaler, Piepkow and others will be working out too. Also, some of the young guys like Partridge and Turner will be measured and such for the workouts.

Practice Notes:
While we would not call Jay Cutler's performance a knockout, the Vandy passer did well. His arm strength was evident and he had no problem driving the ball downfield or zipping the outs. Cutler was accurate but, as was the case at the Senior Bowl, he seemed to rely too much on arm strength to make plays. We were alerted the Cutler has not come over well during interviews either.
Bruce Gradkowski of Toledo also threw the ball well. His outs were crisp and nicely timed. There is the question of Gradkowski's marginal arm strength, which was evident watching his deep passes float.
Eastern Washington's Erik Meyer also looked solid. While his side-arm release will be a problem for some teams, Meyer showed good zip and accuracy on all his throws. His timing was impeccable all afternoon and Meyer, on the field anyway, improved his draft stock.
Ingle Martin also showed a lot of skill. His arm strength was obvious though Martin was a bit late and wild on the longer passes.
While he threw the ball well most of the day, it is apparent Omar Jacobs needs a lot of work. After taking snaps almost exclusively from the shotgun the past two years at Bowling Green, Jacobs footwork was horrid when simulating a drop into the pocket this afternoon.
Brett Basanez of Northwestern, Texas State's Barrick Nealy and Brad Smith of Missouri al struggled throwing the ball.

Omar Jacobs/QB/Bowling Green
- Measured in at 6'3 7/8/232 pounds
- He is going to do all the workouts.
- He had a shoulder injury to his non-throwing arm and is scheduled for a routine MRI, but noted he hasn't had any problems with it.
- He hasn't talked to any teams yet as he just got in Thursday evening.
Oh great, Corey is sick as a dog, couldn't even get up off the couch on Sunday. I am sure he can really perform after all that...BGDrew wrote:Let's not forget that there's more than just Omar who have declared for the draft.
