well...crap...I hope we get to play somebody good....Tulsa still owes us a game from 1990 and USF owes us one from 2004....maybe they'll finally pay up. (beyond the $$ they gave us to buy the contract)

I don't think that is true. If I remember correctly, we signed another pact with them for 2009 and 2010 (or something like that). I'm thinking that is the second gae in Boise.

And for the person that made the crack about BSU should be wanting to play us this year - the Anthony Turner era is HERE. You better start believing or get off the train.

Not sure if BG does have another pact with Boise State for 2009 and 2010, but I know that both Toledo and Miami are already playing BSU in 2009 and 2010 so it seems unlikely that they are also playing BG in those seasons.

I don't think there is anything obvious. Utah gave up its game with Ohio to play Boise State, so the two teams looking for opponents right now are in the same league.
It is all up in the air now. OU made an announcement a few weeks ago about hosting Boston College on 8/31 to open the season. BC is now playing at Central MI that night.

Ohio is scheduled to play at Mizzou on 9/23 or I would say that we would be playing them that day.

Temple is still looking for five games. But five of their seven that are scheduled are already on the road.

I was looking at www.nationalchamps.net as they have 06 tentative schedules and teams with opening that I could see coming here are Rutgers, Syracuse, Houston, TCU, Wyoming, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, and Temple

I think I'd rather just play Temple. Our OOC is rough enough.

Cincy - what's interesting is that we're supposed to have a deal with Wyoming that was pushed back. I wonder if that could be rekindled... hmmm...

FAU wouldn't be bad, either.

Drew - I hear what you're saying about Temple, but we need a home game and they need a home game.

I say we drive to Oklahoma right now and tee pee some houses. We should have done it 16 years ago.

We already play FIU. Now FAU? Not really sexy, that. But I suppose it beats a I-AA game.

Any of the others would be really cool. North Texas and Wyoming strike me as a nice balance of realistic and cool.

I suppose we could get any of the others. But on short notice, with our home game first? Tough, I think.

These seems like a good opportunity to build a longer relationship. Maybe a 2 home and 2 away with one of Rutgers, Syracuse, Houston, TCU, Wyoming, Florida Atlantic or North Texas. All seem plausible IMO. Maybe not TCU.

Temple or a new I-A team (like FAU) are most likely, IMUO. As for losing the game--our schedule is plenty tough enough. I don't mind a bit, assuming it hasn't switched to a 2-1. If the MAC is orchestrating this, its also possible we're picking up some other MAC team's I-A game that is being accomodated elsewhere.

One more thought: I've not been paying that close attention these past few months.

I do recall, during the football season, talk that Boise State and Bowling Green were in serious discussions about another home-and-home. I don't recall ever seeing that confirmed, though.

i recall that, too, but never heard if it was confirmed.

at the time, we had just made a deal with toledo and miami for 1-and-1's, and we were starting to wonder if we should just go ahead and join the MAC.

TCU would be a good replacement; they had very solid year last season, and we barely beat them in the FW Bowl 3 years ago. they've been strong for awhile.

Maybe Michigan is coming to the Doyt
Didn't we think it was odd that the AD dept didn't make a big announcement for the Minnesota game in 2008? That maybe they were waiting in order to make it part of a bigger announcement? Is it possible that a Big 10 team (no, not Michigan of course) could be visiting the Doyt this year? I doubt it, as that would be 3 Big 10 teams on the schedule this year, but just wanted to throw this out there....
