Home in April for Spring Game?

Post by MajorFalcon92 »

Hey everyone,

Just want to check in with my Falcon Friends and give you a quck update.

I hope to be home in April sometime, for my 2 weeks of leave. Looking forward to getting away from the war zone for a while & to get home to see the baby for the first time. The hardest part is being away from the kids.

The weather has been really nice for the most part since I have been here (70's & sunny), but it is starting to warm up some. Probably only another month of decent weather before the heat sets in. The nice weather is a mixed blessing, as we are fighting a fair-weather insurgent. When it is nice, the AIF tend to increase their attacks on both Coalition Forces and ISF.

It has been a few tense days here, but overall we are holding up OK.

I have taken quite a bit of photos since I have been here & hope to post some if I can find some web-space or figure out where to put them. (any ideas?). My job takes me out more than I thought it would, but it proves to be interesting, and makes the days go faster.

The food situation is excellent , as KBR does a good job, almost anywhere you go in country, if they can truck in the supplies.

We are putting in some long hours & the pace has not really let up since we got here. Still looking at November/December 06 (hopefully back for the UT game) to be rotated out.

Morale is high and I can tell you first hand that the troops understand the mission. There are many things you won't see on the evening news that go on here. Yes, it is a dangerous place, but we are working side-by-side with the Iraqis to make it safer. I think everyone wants the same thing here.

Thanks for you support & maybe see some of you at the Spring Game (date?).

Take care, God bless and thanks again for your service. It's nice to hear the inside scoop instead of the crap the news media spews out.

Not sure on the *date* of the spring game, but it's 52 days and some odd hours away. (So yeah, the 22nd sounds right.)

Thanks for checking in, Mitch! Stay safe and get back soon!

Mitch! Good to hear from you. Hopefully this year we won't all get busted with beer in the game. ;)

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

We did good there for a while... Until they made the beer run. Maybe THAT'S why we got in trouble...
