rocketfootball wrote:Wow. You actually had more people at the Temple game? I know it was darn cold for the UT/BGSU game, I was there and tailgated for several hours before the game and even a little after it, but it is just hard to believe that you would have more fans for Temple than your big rival. If I remember correctly, it was a pretty good crowd for the UT/BGSU game.
RF: It looked good, but the attendance figures look like this:

Temple @ BGSU: 19,462
Toledo @ BGSU: 17.438

Sometimes I hate our fan base.
the temple game was on a saturday, our first home game of the season, and, most importantly, it was homecoming.
the toledo game was on a weeknight.
sometimes i hate the schedule makers.

I'm with j4h on this one. The schedule was not great, but our fan base proved how thin it is.

I heard there was a lot of grumbling on our staff having to play Wisconsin, BSU, and OSU in one season.
I sure hope that's not true. Otherwise, that is just a pathetic attitude for this program. I doubt that the 60+ BCS conference schools (including the bottom-feeders) grumble about having to play their conference schedule each year, which by default means playing at least 3 top-25 teams.

The Temple game was also by far the best weather of any game ...I was comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt and there were girls going to the bathroom between cars in the parking lot.

Wow....that was a bit of an non-sequiter....

That's all you saw the girls doing? You didn't spend much time in the student area did you?

i think that my reply came off in the wrong way. (i must note that i'm one of the 2024 that was at the temple game and not the toledo game.)
the point that i failed at making is that the temple game had a big thing going for it in that it was homecoming, and that the toledo game had a big thing going against it in that it was a weeknight.

He grumbled publicly about it, when OSU was added.

And I'll side with the coaching staff on this one. Yeah, we can compete with anybody on any given Saturday (or whatever weeknight ESPN deems appropriate), but we need to be realistic. Ohio State, Wisky & Boise State is a tough OOC schedule for anybody and that includes big-name BSC-conference schools.

To wit: Ohio State's 2005 OOC included a very tough team (Texas) and two teams that were not in the same stratosphere (Miami and San Diego State). So what's wrong with BG's coaches finding an OOC slate of Ohio State, Wisky & Boise State a bit too much?
