Geez...the guy did well for himself at the combine. Why not show a little class and congratulate him?

Besides, the more players fom the MAC that do well at the combines and all star games the better for the conference and by extension, us.

after graduation all players from former MAC schools are just that. They start representing the conference as a whole. I know I root for all former MAC players, except if they're head to head against a former UT player.

One day I hope Bruce wins a Super Bowl. As much as we hated his record against us, he is a class act and will represent whatever team he joins well.

With that said, he's a douchebag.

I will have to say I dont think they were watchng...he struggled with intermedite and long passes the announcers even said it. wierd they even said he was on the short end of pro qbs.

He's the best weak-armed midget QB around. I've said countless times that he won't ever start a game in the NFL because of that.

I still hope he does well. He has "it", and he's smart enough to make a roster. I just think he's severely lacking in physical tools. Every single mention of him I've seen has also mentioned the lack of arm strength. He must improve that area if he ever wants to see the field.

Indeed. Even Leonardo da Vinci knew the answer hundreds of years ago. The clue is in the remarkable likeness of the dreadlocks, a fashion that would have been more alien to Leonardo than the concept of a rocket..

He even predicted the side arm throw. What genius.

I agree Flip. After beating us 2 outta 3, I cannot rip the guy. He has some of the strongest leadership skills and one hell of a "don't give up" attitude. He was to UT what J5 was to BG.

I hope he does well from here on out for the MAC's sake too. As for when he was at Toledo, hey, we had chances to beat him twice with Omar and we couldn't get it done with a 27-7 lead at Toledo, or last year at home. Omar might have the brighter future, but Bruce had the better and bigger games and came out with the W's head-to-head. It sucked for us, but he and his team got it done on the field and that's why Toledo is and has been the top team in the MAC in recent years.

I listened to an interview with Bruce on 1230 a few days ago. I was rather impressed. He mentioned meeting Omar there, and spoke highly of him. He seems like a likeable guy.

IMO, he does lack the arm strength to make a starting NFL QB, and he is a few inches short to overcome that. However, I think that this past NFL season has shown us that good back-up QB's are important. The Eagles, Bears, Jaguars, Cardinals, 49'ers, Bucks, Dolphins, Vikings, Jets, Steelers.......dear god, how many teams didn't need a top notch back-up this year?

I really do believe that Bruce would be a great back-up for a team. Heck, I think that the Steelers would be wise to draft him in a later round. Maddox is a joke, Batch is fragile, and Bruce would be a good guy to get in there and not make a lot of mistakes. Bruce's high completion percentage, IMO, reflects the rather high percentage of short screen passes that Toledo throws, but the Steelers don't send the ball down field a lot. Bruce is also good at running through a hole to pick up some yards, and he can take hits. IMO, the Steelers season would not have come down to week 16 had they a back-up QB like Bruce.

Having said that, I don't see a starting QB job in his future. More power to him if he gets one, but I don't see him being the dynamic passer that the NFL will demand. The nostalgia for guys like Michael Vick is coming to an end, and teams are realizing that QB mobility should be the icing on the cake, not the bread and butter. Not to accuse Bruce of being a running QB, but rather to make the point that you can't get by on athleticism alone. He may be a rather intellegent offensive mind, but he does lack the ability to send the ball down field. This was all the more apparent when UT played teams who fielded a respectable secondary (which lets face it, wasn't very often in the MAC), hense UT's rediculously bad record out of conference in recent years.

I say this as a die-hard fan of Falcon Football Fan, but I really do believe that Omar is the better pro prospect. People can say all they want about throwing mechanics. Personally, I think it is mostly because of money that we hear that so often. The money-making news sources want to sell more media, so they talk up the big name conference players that rake in the hits on their websites. There are plenty of NFL starting QB's with more unorthodox throwing styles than Omar, and none of them hold the NCAA record for most touchdowns to fewest interceptions ratio for a single season.
