I'd like to thank Dan Dakich

First of all, I think there is a problem when we're predicted to be among the worst in the league for like 4 years in a row, but that's besides the point. The point is that this team was a disappointment to me, and I'm sure many others, who didn't even have real high expectations for this season. Yes, many of us expected the team to finish the year at or near the bottom of the league. However, the way the season unfolded (not necessarily the won/loss results) have been pretty disappointing.
I definitely remember that most on here thought there would, at the very least, be growth from the talented freshmen as the season went on. Unfortunately our freshmen class ended up having 2 kids quit before the season began, and one ruled inelgible. Of the 3 that stuck we saw significant PT for only one player, and no dramatic improvement from any of them. So yeah, I do think they managed to put together a disappointing season even when expectations were almost nil...congrats that's actually pretty hard to do.
Yes. What really kills me is that we suffered through a bad season and are left with NO hope that we'll be better next year. We did not rebuild, we just continued to tear down. From January on, the team got worse instead of better. Moten and Clements have acquired no confidence and little experience, and Marschall has not improved his numbers. After all this time, we see Floyd playing full time and a walk-on getting minutes in front of freshman.
Given the progression over the last 4 years, I'm having a very hard time imagining DD turning things around. I fear that next year could be another dead, pointless year for the program as DD completes the final year of his contract.

Which is why we need to get rid of Dakich NOW, and start the recovery a year earlier. Dakich has damaged this team beyond repair in terms of interacting with players and in recruiting, and its time for him to get canned. Unless he is making an unbelievably huge salary, Krebs should dump him the day after we fall out of the MAC tournament.BleedOrange wrote:hammb wrote:Actually the hockey team was predicted close to last, and many of the BG faithful didn't believe that prediction, but that's another story...cowboyjoe wrote:We were predicted last and finished last in our league...big deal. The only way Dakich is gone is if he quits, which is a possibility. They won't fired him with a year left on his contract.

Yeah, because we won't pay for the contract buyout, even though he is probably barely even making six figures, if even that much.clevelandfalcon wrote:bgsufalcon24 wrote:Which is why we need to get rid of Dakich NOW, and start the recovery a year earlier. Alright, I hate to give you a hard time, I really do. But every time you try to make a profound statement regarding this team you prove what an uniformed blowhard you are. Dan makes around $160,000 as the head coach of the Bowling Green Falcons men's basketball team. That is considerably more that you, in your infinite wisdom I'm sure, think that he is worth...bgsufalcon24 wrote:

And to be honest with ya Bleeding, as somebody who has been to nearly all our home games over the last 4 years (and also a number of road trips), I'm not convinced he is worth that money. Dan is struggling right now, and in the past 4 years there has been VERY little to cheer about this team on the court.
I don't know who else is available in the coaching world, but looking around the MAC and similar level conferences I find it very hard to believe that we couldn't do better in terms of a head coach. In fact, I'm not convinced we don't have a better head coach already on our staff...

Or Kyle Rase? Is he still some kind of "assistant"? I mean he did coach the Gibsonburg baseball team to a state title. I'm sure that his coaching abilities would translate to basketball.

I was simply trying to make an estimate since I didn't know the exact figure. Seeing as 125,000 is in the low six figure range, that estimation was fairly accurate. And I don't remember saying anything about how much he is worth. You wouldn't like what I would have to say on that subject anyway.Bleeding Orange wrote:Alright, I hate to give you a hard time, I really do. Don't worry about him. He's just a little stressed out. You know, it's hard to be the Dan Dakich head cheerleader and hold down a full-time job all at the same time. Cut him some slack...........................bgsufalcon24 wrote:I was simply trying to make an estimate since I didn't know the exact figure. Dan makes 125K. It turns out that bgsufalcon24 was closer than you. Who's the uninformed blowhard?
