You think they like getting on here and reading that their "fans" have given up on them because they got a problem with the coach? I'm sorry, but get over the Dakich hate and start acting like you want the program to succeed.
Vendetta? I don't think anyway has a vendetta against Coach Dakich. Hammb has been to almost every home game and some road games as well, if I am not mistaken. And he is heading to Cleveland for the MAC tourny whether we are playing or not. What more should he do to support the players? We all want our team to be successful and for the kids currently in the program to have great careers on the court and more importantly, get a degree from BGSU. It is just the way Coach Dakich has been running the program lately, neither one of these goals seems likely.

The thought of a lame duck season annoys the hell out of me, but I'm afraid you are probably right Flip.

I do think that 3-4 kids coming out saying that they want to transfer might change that, however. It could be possible to see an upsurge of alumni dollars ready to buy him out of that last year if we have another exodus of talent.
I also think the fact that there is a guy sitting out there available that has already proven he can win in the MAC should be a HUGE consideration. If we can get Gary Waters now, then Dakich has to go. If we wait til after next season, we will be going after some young, unproven assistant, and who knows how that will turn out. Waters seems pretty much of a lock on providing a competitive team.

I wonder if a couple MAC championships and an NCAA tourny bid would change Grant's mind? :smt045

EXACTLY!!! I completely agree 100 percent and I've been saying it year after year, the key word for BG basketball the last four years is and has always been "IF." As in, if everyone stays. We’ll never get out of this cycle of losing and trying to building no matter who our coach is if we keep losing players year after year. It’s got to stop, period! Whether it’s the type of players we are recruiting or the coaching styles and philosophies that aren't working, something’s got to change and now. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what we’ve been doing isn’t working and really hasn’t been for awhile now. DD is being paid six figures to do a good job coaching and leading this program. If he isn’t doing a good job, he can be replaced by someone else who will. It’s the exact same for any of us and our jobs. If we aren’t doing a good job, we can be replaced also.

Here is a quote from the Toledo Blade on Dakich today:

“Three thousand years ago we actually won the league winning on two senior nights back-to-back,” Dakich said. “But when you have a young team that’s very fragile right now ...”

Newsflash: We’re never going to see the light of day like that again if the defections continue. We’ll always be young and fragile if we can’t matriculate players in our program. Until we start attracting, retaining and developing players, it’ll be 3,000 years and counting.......

"Can you play, and will you stay." - The new BGSU recruiting motto.

This season is going to end with one more loss - that's inevitable. But I would like to see us beat Toledo to end their season before that happens.

Most of you with a pulse know/understand my feelings on the matter, so there's no point in restating them again. However, I will take Dan Dakich as my coach any day of the week and a clean program, before we muddy the waters and bring in a shady Quin Snyder.

Then again, we wouldn't be in Quin Snyder's price range either.

No Quin Snider? Really? What about Dave Bliss? He might be available.

Coach Dakich's days.........

Are nearly over as far as I'm concerened. Realisticly Dan has one more year to pull a whopper of a magic miracle out of his butt this next season to earn any kind of extension.

I agree with Option. I was talking to my dad on the phone last night and he mentioned the OU score and asked "What the heck is going on up there???" I told him we just aren't a good team this year and the program has been declining the last few years...and the bottom has fallen out. But, Coach's players, for the most part, earn their degrees and the program is clean. That is something good Coach has accomplished and should not be overlooked.

Unfortunately, the bottom line is winning. And BG just hasn't been doing that lately. I appreciate everything Coach has done for BGSU, the community and such but this is about as low as it can get.

One last thing....I understand Hammb's view about just getting the season over but I will NEVER, EVER root for BG to lose to that school up north. NEVER. Do I see us winning tomorrow night? Not likely...but just the same I will be rooting for BG to beat them because it's them. Period. I despise that school and everything that goes with it. And as bad as this season has ended up for BG, it sure would be sweet to end Stan and Co's season on their floor. ;-)

BEAT TOLEDO!!!!

Yeah, if it was anybody but Toledo. (actually I would never root for Western Michigan either) It would be very cool to see us take out UT on their floor and advance to Cleveland, because then I could see us play at the Q Thursday night, I'm gonna be there anyway...

I'm not calling you out on this, but am curious how it felt? You ended up rooting for the Falcons in the end, didn't you? Did you get to Savage last night?

Yeah, I was rooting for BG...up until the point that we were down by about 20 late in the game. Then it was just so pathetic I had to laugh about it, and I was kinda hoping we'd end up losing by 30+ just to hear the comments in the post game.

Thank god this season is over...
