Two bids this year?
Kent St-Akron?
Or is it going to be whoever wins the tourney? I wonder if Christenson from Kent State is starting to get considerations to a bigger time job (assuming his team gets shutout of the tourney)? He has done a pretty good job there.
I know this is old hat but what does the MAC need to do to get anything close to the MVC in terms of getting multiple bids on a consistent basis?

My guess is, the only way the MAC would get two bids is if someone beat say Kent State in the finals in the MAC Tournament, and that there aren't many upsets in other conference tournaments. But as we have come to find out, getting two bids is a very big struggle. Otherwise, we're likely looking at our automatic bid and a handful of teams in the NIT.
GO BG!!!

There is NO team in the MAC that's even close to being on the bubble. CBusFalcon, you're just tantelizing yourself. Give yourself a break and keep your expectations loooowwwww.
Concerning the NIT...
Quite honestly, I don't give a rip about the NIT. It means nothing, and, is a waste of time. If that tournament folded, I wouldn't even notice. I have never cared about that tournament and whether BG or the MAC has gotten bids to it. Personally, I could do without the distraction on SportsCenter.

Maybe the MVC commits more of its resources to its basketball programs compared to MAC schools?
You answered your own question. They don't have football to suck the athletic budget.

2002 was the one that really pissed me off. Joe Lunardi of espn.com thought we were the last team left out that year.1996-1997
1999-2000
2001-2002
These were the most frustrating. In the 2000 season there were some upsets in other conference tourneys that kept BG out.
24-8 record (before the NIT) with 3 of those coming to an eventual Elite-8 team.
And in 2002, aside from three of those losses coming to Kent State (including one in the MAC Finals), another loss was a road game against Ball State, a team that beat UCLA and Kansas that year and also had a good season. What's more, Mississippi also got into the NCAA that year, a team we beat head-to-head, after they had an okay season and got bounced from the SEC quarterfinals. But yeah, you could certainly make a case for BG in any of those three years (1997, 2000 and 2002).San Diego Falcon wrote:2002 was the one that really pissed me off.
