The details: a sad team beating a horrible team.

Toledo is not a sad team. If you haven't noticed lately we are the hottest team in the MAC. With that said, I can't understand why DD didn't go to West Virginia. Can anyone answer that?

Watching him from an opponents point of view, I realized that DD hands are tied. Lets face it, bg has no bench. He can't go to the bench like other teams can. That does make it frustrating. However, with some of your posts, could it be his ability to keep players? I don't know.

See you all in the fall!

It is his LACK of ability to keep players!! ](*,)

These guys are gonna be better people for having played for Dan, and I believe that. He could watch my kids any day. But that's not what we are talking about.

Empty pockets... again...
Nope, they can be crappy people as long as they win games. I hear Huggins is available.

With that, I'm done with the Hoops forums. The vile that's been spewed here has started going to other forums. I understand the frustration, but the total disregard for a man's professional life and the blind eye which has been turned to the players busting their ass for the University has totally turned me off from reading anything else here.

Let me know when you guys are ready to discuss Hoops and not who's going to help Dakich pack.
So that you know, I'm not going to miss you. When, or if, you come back, try to remember that this is a forum and you are entitled to your opinions.

Attacking someone for saying something that you don't agree with shows your lack of class.

Now, that said, I think DD will stay, because he can. He has no offers at the moment and I don't expect him to get any. Our afternoon discussion centered on that very fact and the difference. DD may be bipolar, he may be a number of things, but he's no Bobby Knight. Knight can do what he does and get away with it because, if you really stop to observe him, he's a very engaging individual. DD is not Bobby Knight and I wish he'd stop trying to be like Knight.

One of my favorite coashes here in BB was John Weinert. He inherited Pat Haley's house of horrors when the good guys were gone. A football player, Monk Montgomery who used to Ummm patronize the Brathaus...often, and a collection of marginal players. He used to run trick defenses and plays to give us an advantage. He was an average coach and a horrible recruiter, but Charlie Parker landed some great players, ie Newbern comes to mind. In the end, coach resigned for health reasons, and his wife ended up a victim of cancer. Now, 20 years later, it doesn't matter what his record was.

If I'm still alive in 20 years, that's how I'm gonna remember DD.

Now, let's think about it. BGSU has not won a MAC tournament EVER, and not been to the NCAA's since 1968. Do you think we will see the NCAA's before the 40th anniversary of that appearance?

Probaby not.

A couple things to add.

To those that defend Dakich with the "His players graduate and do well off the court". That is only half of his job. The other half is to recruit talented players and use them to win basketball games. He's done reasonably well at one, not counting the Fitch thing and all the players getting their degrees from other institutions. He's also failed at the other. If I went to work and failed half the time, I wouldn't expect to be employed very long. I'm not backing up one side or the other, I'm just saying this argument just isn't good enough anymore.

Finally -- Reading the chastising of those that post negative things is more tiring and annoying to me than reading all the negative crap. If somebody personally attacks Dakich or a player, fine, get on the poster. If they are just venting frustration, it's pretty futile to try and be the shining beacon of hope by attacking every little non-positive comment.

After this season, fans of all shapes, sizes, and dedications are going to be upset, depressed, angry, or just flat out sad. Deal with it or this forum is going to be even more unreadable in the coming weeks.

I think it's that we come on to the forum and read the same exact stuff in 20 different threads. Every day it's the same thing. I think everyone here gets the point that we're not a good basketball team and that coach Dakich isn't exactly having success running this team. It can only be said so many ways. But everyone feels the need to start 20 different threads thinking they can say it better than someone else.

Coach Dakich was in the stands at Owens CC yesterday for the Junior College Regional Tournament. Not sure if he was scouting or checking out any vacant coaching positions.
