the biggest crowd for a mac tournament game is 14,000+ for the bg vs kent state final in 2002. it's the only time that i've seen the top bowl not closed off by a curtain. i thought a ua/ksu game might challenge that number, but i don't think a ut/ksu game will.

I wasn't there for that BG/Kent game so I can't attest for that game. I figured they would open the top section if Akron had beaten UT. No way they open it for UT. UT had a decent crowd but no where near what they should have...maybe they show up tonight for the final. Would be nice to see a crowd like last night's games.

Apparently you have forgotten what Toledo did to Kent almost a month ago - 60 to 44. I seriously think that we match up much better atgainst Kent than we did against Akron. Romeo Travis is a beast underneath and I am glad that we got past them. I can't believe that guy is around one more year! Gessshhhh...does the name Granville Waiters come to mind about this guy?!

I do give UT credit. When they bring it, they are quick and very difficult to score against, and when they shoot its even worse.

Granville Waiters may finally be as old as he looked in 1979...

Good luck to the Rockets

Thanks Flipper!

We were at Arnies last night watching the game and I had mentioned how long it seems that Romeo has been there. I mentioned Granville Waiters and the guy in front of us said he was thinking the same thing. Wasn't Granville already collecting his 401K when playing at OSU??

Not sure how far back some of you go but I think George Green of OU (early 70s) was the original Granville Waiters. He looked old, walked old, had old hair, you name it- I was always surprised he was able to run down the court but he was All-MAC.

UT made a heck of a run at the end to scare the crap outta Kent State. Wow...the Flashes just know how to get it done this time of year.

Congrats Kent on the title and I will also congratulate UT for not packing it in when the Rockettes were 1-6 MAC. UT never threw in the towel and was playing better than anyone the last 3-4 weeks.

And I remember "Grandpa" Waiters....a blast from the past there.

All MAC? Am I missing something here?

I think so. I refer to George Green, an OU player of yesteryear who looked to be in his early 40s when he played in the early 70s. He was allMAC long before Waiters played for osu , hence the "original Granville Waiters" line. You'd have to be pretty old to get it. Grant's dad and I did George Green riffs all the time-the guy was funny looking and just palin funny as well.
