Ohio State Penalized

Post by It's the Journey... »

Well, Jim O'Brian was not as innocent in the eyes of the NCAA. I am glad they are not penalizing the members of this years team because they are not at fault. I wonder if the university will appeal the court decision in favor of O'Cheater now?

I know two of the three responsible for writing that story, and one of them will be buying me beers tonight if he was responsible for that. (Okay, he's ALREADY buying me beers tonight. More beers if he was responsible for that.)

OSU really got it in the short hairs on this one. They're penalized once for the guy committing violations, and they're penalized again for firing the guy who committed the violations.

The court bATTLE WITH O'BRIEN IS NOT OVER..osu is going to appealand i would have to imagine the decision would be reversed now that they see how hard the ncaa came down on o'brien. if he wants a job within the next 5 years he has to go in front of the ncaa panel with his new schools administrators to explain why there should not be further punishments.

OSU has to take down the banners from the final 4 appearance..big deal. everybody knows that they were there. If they do not know, then they were never going to know anyways...who cares.

have to pay 800,000 dollars back...they will more than make that up in football revenues over the next few years, and with the bball team they are going to have next year, 800K is chump change.

In other words the NCAA punishments are no big deal at all..its actually an end to an annoying distraction, time to move on now and win a title.

So who is right? The judge who awarded o'brien the lawsuit or the NCAA?
If the judge is right, the ncaa has to take back their punishments.

If they NCAA is right, which they are, then OSU will appeal and will get the decision reversed.

OSU is going to come out pretty good from this situation.

not a big deal

The NCAA ruling has nothing to do with the legality of O'Brien's firing.

it goes hand in hand..

if the ncaa finds what he did wrong, and the judege says osu was wrong...well someone had to be right someone has to be wrong....how can o'brien be right and wrong? he cant...i think the judge had to make a decision and he was the first to do so...i think after the appeal osu will get the lawsuit reversed..

minor penalties..play ball...beat iowa for the tourney title baby!!!

It's all in how the contract was written. There was a clause in the contract which stated the only way he could be fired for his official team conduct was if he was found to be guilty by the NCAA. OSU fired him before the NCAA ruled.

Lawsuit over. Get the check book out OSU.

that is exactly why they are going to win an appeal.

sorry, o'brien bank account is going to stay 3 million dollars smaller.

The NCAA gave him a tough tough penalty. he is done.
