2 more leave the Falcon's Nest
The revolving door of mass exodus just continues on. Year after year, or I should probably say, month after month, we continue to lose player, after player, after player. Some people get criticized on here for venting, complaining or for having a glass is half empty outlook, but who are we even trying to kid anymore, our basketball “program” (using the term loosely) is just a circus act at best anymore. We can take the most optimistic approach and look at things concerning this team as the glass is half full all we want, but the fact of the matter is, it’s not like that at all. There are a lot of opinions on the situation no doubt, but the fact of the matter is we have a big problem at BG with our men’s basketball program, and there’s no way to sugarcoat or cover it up. Glass is half full outlook? Hell, our roster isn’t even half full of players who have or will stay. It’s just a joke anymore, a flat out joke. Every year we talk about how things are going to change, and you know what, they don’t. They just don’t and won’t. The defections are going to continue and just go on and on until a bigger change is in place. And you know what the worst part is? It’s very unlikely this is even going to be the last defection before next season begins. Hell, we’ve got 8 months until next season starts, that’s time for at least two or three more players to leave at BG’s pace.

My odds were on the official university statement, and I'm betting quite heavily that they won't say he's a pussy. My personal belief is either we're recruiting the bottom 5% of toughness prospects coming out of HS or we have serious problems with our coaching staff. If we are only recruiting the wimpy recruits, then I guess that leads back to serious problems with our coaching staff. Either way I feel that all these transfers are essentially for the same reason.
I was laying odds on what story that coaching staff will concoct to make it look like it isn't their fault.
With early action indicating I missed on my odds the NBA excuse is has been raised to 100-1 for any takers. Again, under no way do I believe he said that to the coaching staff (or for that matter that Ron Lewis did either), these odds are solely based on what the story will be from the program...

I have no hatred for the guy at all. He's doing what he feels is best for him.dduncan wrote:Wow, such hatred for a guy that none of the people here have any reason why he is transferring. Fire away, I guess..
I assure you my hatred is for the system that has caused so many players to transfer in the past 3-4 years. My point is that we will likely never know the real reason why he is leaving...unless you honestly believe the BS that we've been told about each one of the transfers in the past...

Unfortunately, nothing probably will be done until after Dakich's contract runs out after next season.
I'm surprised no one has put up a poll recently with who/whom will leave the program next...
Get used to it for the next few months...BGSU33 wrote:The revolving door of mass exodus just continues on. Year after year, or I should probably say, month after month, we continue to lose player, after player, after player.
I keep the glass half-full outlook not because I like going on, but because 90% of you probably don't know the players. I don't see why everyone turns around and slams a player because he leaves. Moon is a good kid...he left for the same reason everyone else has left. I've also seen the whole "if players can't take it, why did they come here...they knew what they were getting in to." Sorry, but I know for a fact almost everyone on our team couldn't afford to go to college without a scholarship. When someone offers you a free education to suffer through a season, if you are smart, you'd still take it. These players are intelligent...they are trying to improve their future. Most realize they aren't going to the NBA so they need an education. But some can't deal with things here and try to find better places to play where they can still get an education and not have to deal with the crap going on behind the scenes here.
I hate what's going on just as much of any of you. But we unfortunately can't do anything about it. If Dakich needs to go, that will come from above. The only people that can probably push for that is the team and I don't see that happening either...

I'm with you here Metz. I don't know any of the current players, but I have known players in the past. When it first started I questioned the kids, but not anymore. At this point I don't believe a word that comes from the mouth of our basketball program, especially when it's concerning player transfers. These players are all leaving for the same reason, and it's not a reason that the staff wants made public.Metz wrote: I keep the glass half-full outlook not because I like going on, but because 90% of you probably don't know the players. I agree with you that Moon is likely just the start of another mass exodus, and I've figured that to be the case for awhile. I don't claim to have any inside knowledge but there is little doubt in my mind that there are some strange things going on behind closed doors.I've also seen the whole "if players can't take it, why did they come here...they knew what they were getting in to." If we do suffer another couple of player losses this offseason I'm hoping it causes enough push from above to start with a new coaching staff, but I kind of doubt it. I don't see the players going out of their way to push for it either, quite honestly that's not their job to do so. They're here for an enducation and to play ball. Unfortunately playing ball is being made into such an unpleasant experience for them that they cannot stay to get that education...I hope Moon can find another scholarship and finish his education up there.

I'm not part of the program so no, I can't expand.Tricky_Falcon wrote:Could you expand on what's going on behind the scenes?
But lets be honest, I think we all have realized what the problem is and what the solution is. Unless the problem is taken care of soon, we will have to deal with it for another year.

I don't think we can expect anyone with any knowledge to come out with this sort of thing...it would jeopardize their position, be it employee or player.Tricky_Falcon wrote:Could you expand on what's going on behind the scenes?
However, I think it's painfully obvious that there is something wrong here, and there is really only one solution. I was as big a fan of Dan as you'd ever find 3 years ago, but you cannot ever expect us to compete for MAC titles with this stuff going on.
Perhaps the something behind the scenes is simply the kids not wanting to put the work in, but for some reason I'm hesitant to believe that's all it is. There are plenty of coaches who make their kids work that don't go through stretches of transfers like this.

Wow that sucks that moon is leaving. He was a real cool kid and was one I'd talk to from time to time walking to class. I do know he didn't like Dakich and that he really alienated the players. Moon was a great defensive player and I will miss him.
