Incoming Players So Far 06-07?
In addition to Larsen and Sims, don't we have a guy coming in next year that started out down in North Carolina somewhere?
Here are the new players for next year so far:
6'7" Sullivan (redshirt)
6'9" Larsen (power forward/center)
6'1" Sims (point guard)
????? North Carolina guy

I wonder if Nate could call down there to Lindsey Goldsberry's brother John and see if he wants to transfer up here! He had 14 pts for them in yesterdays game against GW.falconboy wrote:Nate Miller from UNC-Willmington

Really. That's unnecessary, and it pisses me off. Sarcasm or not, crap like that's uncalled for.bgmaggot00 wrote:Give it time... they'll transfer too.Rollo83 wrote:In addition to Larsen and Sims, don't we have a guy coming in next year that started out down in North Carolina somewhere?

It's bitter and uncalled for, but he's generally right. Miller and Sullivan have already burned their grace years, so they're very likely to stay. I'd be willing to bet money that Sims or Larson will be gone before their sophomore year. I know nothing about Sims an Larson in particular that makes me think they'll leave, I'm just taking an honest look at the pattern.TG1996 wrote:Really. That's unnecessary, and it pisses me off. My outlook is more dark and sour than it's ever been since I started following BG hoops as a kid in the mid 70's. Personally, I'm at the point where I bored with the our recruiting because it just doesn't matter who we sign. DD will find a way to turn a roster that looks good in the summer into an agonizing team by December, just like he's done in each of the last 4 years. My expectations are extremely low. We could have the best recruiting class in the MAC, and to me, and it won't mean anything. It makes me sick to say things like this, but that's where am at.

Like many of you, I was very disappointed with this year's team and their (lack of ) performance. Only had a chance to see them "live" once this year( vs. Wright St.) and it was pathetic.
BUT..... if I recall correctly, they were around 18-11 last year, which, while not spectacular, certainly doesn't fit the "agonizing" team comment over EACH of the past 4 yrs.

Fair enough, 18-11 is a winning record. But, a broken clock tells the right time twice a day. That team won its games because the core players had been playing togethor for a while. That team was extremely slow and lacked athleticism. Furthermore, DD failed to use his depth and freshman, and by the end of the year, they were very ineffective against good MAC teams. I'll never forget how badly Miami pounded that team at the Gund. Right around then, I remember someone posting that teams like Miami, Ohio, and Buffalo had a higher gear that we did not have. That post was like crystal. That year was decent and obviously the best of the bunch. For me, that team was agonizing despite the winning record. It represents the upper bound on a broken system.Class of 61 wrote:B.O.BleedOrange wrote:[ DD will find a way to turn a roster that looks good in the summer into an agonizing team by December, just like he's done in each of the last 4 years. You know, if you're going to be critical of the program, and I have, then you have to give credit where its due. 2004-5 was not a stopped clock. It was the result of good coaching and good players who had finished their careers. All I'm saying, and all most people say, is that we need more of that, and not what we have been getting.

It is amazing to me how certain people can get away with saying stuff like this, and certain others can't.BleedOrange wrote:It's bitter and uncalled for, but he's generally right. I don't totally disagree with you, Bleed. The outlook is pretty dark, and I'm just as frustrated about it as any of the rest of you. Watching Coach L on the sidelines last night reminded me of the good (not so) old days at BG, including some of the DD years. Now, I'd like to think that the basketball team is a turned corner away from that excitement again, but I'm not so sure how long it may take to get there. Could be a year, could be a decade, who knows?BleedOrange wrote:It's bitter and uncalled for, but he's generally right. What I don't like is the people that feel the need to express their frustration in a cold, backhanded manner every time the same subject comes up. Not saying it's the same person/people everytime (necessarily), but it's getting old. Again. Biting your tongue doesn't really hurt as bad as you may think sometimes.
And 24... it's not WHO says it, but how it's said. You could call everyone in the athletic office a gun-toting, baby-shaking, french fry-hating Communist, and I think alot of people would let it go *if* you had a solid, well-stated argument to go with it. One sentence posts involving at least one use of the word "sucks" isn't solid and well-stated.
