STFU
No, I'm not going to STFU just because you cannot come to grips with reality.

you cant tell me that anderson arena doesnt look like a high school gym, i mean seriously, my highschool just rennovated their gym and it is in much better shape than the POS our basketball teams play in. i have to agree with 24 here...

I don't know if we've done that. A renovvation of the stadium is long overdue. The stadium has sat there for 40 years with minimal improvements and basic maintenance
All fair enough. I just don't think the Anderson and Perry issues are comparable. I guess that was my real point. Many have concluded Anderson is beyond redemption. In the case of Perry Stadium, I definitely wouldn't agree.

That's pretty strong. The stadium needs some work, but it will serve us well indefinitely if we treat it right.
Not to mention a high school gym of a basketball arena.
You may want to select you words more carefully. You are young and you have not a disciplined tongue.

Andeson needs work. I would rather have the history of Anderson versus some bling-bling of a new character-free building. I know that is tough to fathom for the legion of young ones on this board.

Well, then maybe he should have said, "I come from Bowling Green and New Mexico looks like a BCS team compared to us." I don't think he speaks for the MAC, so he should have left it to that which he does speak for. Rocket and Redhawk fans view a team like New Mexico as nothing more than a peer at best.

TR...take a look at this link. In no way shape or form is UT close to being New Mexico's peer in terms of facilities, fan interest or booster support.

Until now, I haven't taken the time to check out their website, but I've read posts on here about the fan support there and the fact that they are the state flagship school. I guess the problem is that not being in the position of AD, I'm not seeing it from an AD's perspective (but if I was, I'm sure I still wouldn't have lobbed that bomb). Cincinnati is in the Big East but they are not the state flagship school and they have less programs and a lower football attendance average (and maybe a lower bball attendance). From my perspective, I view UC as being in a superior position because of their access to success in the BCS or NCAA tournament. From my POV, UT and NM have the same chances for getting into a BCS game. Also, there's a big difference between a state like Ohio and New Mexico (pop. 11.5 mill vs. 1.9 mill).

Regardless, I see your point about facilities and having less in-state competition. Also, I do think that the MWC is better than the MAC, but I don't view it as a BCS conference. I think that the top teams are comparable but the difference is the dead weight at the bottom of the MAC.

Either way, I'm off-track now and I'm not here to make Shadenfreude's life difficult, so I'll leave it at that.

I don't thinkl he should have said it (if he actually was quoted correctly)He didn't have to bury the MAC to put over New Mexico. Having said that, I think what he said has a certain ring of truth to it and that bothers me more. Our facilities do lag behind a lot of division 1 programs and that needs to change.

The Sebo Center is a nice start, but there's a lot of work to be done after that.

as quoted in a much earlier post...it was said that renovating AA would be just as much as building a new arena. A new arena is what BGSU needs and quite frankly what the basketball program needs except for a change at the head coaching position (not naming any names here  ) but in all seriousness, recruits come in here and see how terrible our facilities are and change theyre minds about possibly coming to BGSU. It's a sad truth that all of you anderson arena supporters need to deal with. And yes Anderson Arena has a ton of history, but it was once a new building without any history. It takes good players and coaching to build up a program. And a new arena would help to bring in new players. I also agree with flipper saying a nice start, but a new basketball arena would be a VERY nice start and prove to recruits that we are committed to give them every oppurtunity to succeed...
