Softball wins USF Speedline Invitational

The BG ladies pulled out 2 wins today to take home the USF Speedline Invitational championship. BG, who dropped the first game of the tournament to Troy 1-0, won 5 staight including the tournament title game over Florida International 5-4. With wins over Towson (10-0 in 5 innings), Winthrop (2-0), Purdue (6-0), Fordham (3-0), and then Florida International I personally believe it's time to watch our girls make a run into the NCAA tournament the same way the BG women's basketball team did this year. This Falcon team has lost just 4 seniors since they won the MAC tournament title in 2004. Leigh Ross has a loaded squad that if the play up to their potential should bring home another title to BG. The Lady Falcons move to 15-8 on the season and open up their home schedule on Saturday with a Double Header against Detroit.

It's great to see this team enjoying so much success so far. They have played a great schedule loaded with a lot of talented teams and have won some big games and competed hard in even the ones they’ve lost. If they can keep up this pace and continue to improve and get better as the season goes on, BG has a great shot at another MAC Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
