Agreed. He represented the university extremely well. He is a very intelligent and decent guy.
A little revisionist history with that comment. I never once saw Coach L eating at a restaraunt in Bowling Green. He wasn't involved in the community and seemed to have a bit of a superiority complex. The two coaches that sandwiched Larranaga at BG most definitely "represented the university extremely well" and were "decent guy[s]".

I did, however, really enjoy his trapping defense and up tempo basketball.
When I worked at Hot 'n' Now, coach L once went through the drive through the wrong way... it was one of my favorite college moments. :-)

I used to see him all over BG and my dad would meet him and eat at Junction (or whatever it was called then... "Sundance" maybe??) about once a month. His sons went to St. John's so he wasn't involved in BGHS, but I think we was pretty active in and around BG.

I played some pickup games at the rec with coach and his sons one summer. They were all very friendly, even with a hack like me

I have nothing bad to say about him at all. He brought in alot of talent, those teams played hard, and I don't recall any serious transfer issues at all while he was here. No, he never quite got us over the hump either, but those were some talented teams that were fun to watch year in and year out. I'm happy for him and his recent success.

Grant that Hot-n-Nasty story made me crack up.

And I don't have anything "bad", necessarily , to say about Coach L. Just pointing out that the coaches who were before and after him made explicitly more of an effort to be visible in the community.

Coach L left a lot to be desired, I felt/feel, in the PR and Image department. He wasn't outwardly rude like one of his assistants with the initials MI, but he wasn't exactly someone I would describe as lighting up a crowd when he walked in the room.

Of course I've been rooting for him not only this tourney but back in 98 or 99 when he first got there and again in 01 was it when Jon had a chance to win the game. . .

Anyone know what time that GM/WSU game is scheduled to start? I don't wanna miss that one. Their first meeting this year was a classic!!

I wish BOTH teams the best....too bad one mid major's season is gonna end with this game. Go Bradley as well!

Wonder win the UVA job will open up. No doubt, JL dreams of that job, and he's certainly making himself a candidate.
It was open last year and we hired Dave Leitao from DePaul...Hopefully it won't be open for a while, I don't think it will be open until, at the earliest, Calhoun steps down at UConvict, then Dave might take that job, but I don't know.
