Great News - 2006 MAC Bowl Bids!

Post by San Diego Falcon »

On the ncaabbs.com site, Vandelay made the definitive statement that the MAC will have three bowl tie-ins this year, possibly four! To be finalized/announced in April.

Please, let this be true!

Vandelay is a pretty reliable source on these things, so hopefully it comes to fruition.

POSSIBLY FOUR?!?!?!!

This is potentially the greatest news for MAC fans in a long, long time.

I want to know what the MAC is doing for us for giving up a home game to fix things for OU and the MAC. It better be something better than a plaque or one of those cetificates of merit that any doofus can print on Microsoft publisher.

And we better be playing one more home game than usual next year (7 at home ) or i will be none too happy. Of course, I can't do anything more than bitch about it....but I'm gonna do lots of that.

Free beer & porn would be a good place to start.

A premiere home OOC game would be the followup...

Maybe that's what the possible 4th bowl game is. A home game for BG :smt119

OK, but what does that have to do with the news that the MAC will have 3 bowl bids, possibly 4, this fall pending certification by the NCAA in April? :-D

This is great news and surprising. Just a week or two ago Vandelay was saying that the Indy Bowl was dead and the Toronto Bowl was still looking for a major sponsor and didn't look good. I am guessing that they got the sponsor they were looking for, and that changed Nick's feelings on getting additional bowl bids.

I wonder what the hell is going on behind the scenes regarding our 12th game. I read on another site that a Temple season-ticket holder got their home schedule, and we are not listed as visiting Temple. Temple does have another TBA road game, but that would leave them with 5 home games and 7 road games. Maybe there's a Mexican stand-off between BG and Temple regarding who has to play the extra road game?

Akron still only has 11 games scheduled and needs another home game, but supposedly all the Division I-AA schools want $250K to play there.

Let's get that 12 game at home and get bowl-eligible, baby!

Very interesting news here...

And if it comes down to Temple or BG playing that extra road game, it BETTER be Temple. The MAC has kissed their kiester enough.

True, but they did come here last year. It may be our turn to go to Philadelphia. Then again, Boise State was supposed to come here this year, and that didn't happen...

3 or 4 Bowl Bids???

Post by Falconboy »

That would be great. Would that mean that we have finall wrestled 2 bids away from the lame C-USA? I don't know if this helps the fact that we only get 4 home games at the Doyt but I guess I would take it for sure.

I really wish he'd post some more info than what he's got. If he does have the inside scoop, why isn't he sharing. Not calling him a liar by any means, just a tease!
