Coaching Staff

Post by dannyk »

Since this topic seems to be sprinkled through a couple of threads it is hard to follow.

I think that those claiming that Pooch is building a dynasty right now are a little off the mark. Others are saying that the staff is a mess with coaches leaving and trying to spin stories to make themselves look good. The staff is not a mess.

It seems the staff is doing a decent job in recruiting but recruiting is measured in wins, not what people on a message board say or top 20 recruting class rankings.

With kids going pro I can't say what is going on because I don't know. All I know is that a coach is never going to say I was trying to keep him here because we are in last place and I need wins. That is not going to help recruting.

It is great to be optimistic about the team right now but this is the same as telling grandma and grandpa that junior is going to an ivy league school when he keeps getting a 1.2 every semester of high school.

i think that pooch and the team are going to be fine...remember, this will be the first year of all pooch's recruits. The defense struggled because the capitain, Morrison didnt come here to play for pooch or his system. Now we will see what pooch and his team of all his recruits can really do!

Wrong.....Morrison did the best job that he could as a captain and as a defenseman. Others did not. He made mistakes, yes, but to say that he didn't buy into Paluch's system is simply wrong. Of all of the seniors, he (as well as 1 or 2 others) bought into Paluch's system, he just couldn't convince some of the others to do the same (at least on a consistant basis). Good defense is not played solely by the defensemen. Yes they're responsible for what goes on in front of the net but they can't do it alone. There are six players out on the ice and all are responsible for getting that puck out of their zone and keeping the other team from scoring.

I don't know where you get off criticizing the Captain of the team like that. I am pretty much unaware of anything that could resemble evidence to back up your claim. If I am missing something, I would be glad if you could take the time to enlighten me.

I think Sville was simply not remembering some conversations we have had this year correctly. I don't think he meant any harm.
From the halls of ivy...

It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan

I'll back him on that. I know leadership was discussed to death this year as one of the underlying concepts of the year. I think Sville just had a short somewhere between his brain and his fingers :smt021 It's happened to me many times.

I bet that we'll be much towards the middle of the pack the next few years. Some times coaches do well w/incumbants (Notre Dame this year) and others don't (pooch and Comley and MSU come to mind).
