The worst part is this makes it even harder to make fun of Toledo for having a bunch of retarded felons on the team.

At least Nick Lawrence wasn't with them.
At least get some talented felons.

Unfortunate for sure. I am curious though, given what Patrick said whether there will be more reprecussions. Will Patrick give up the names of others, if in fact there were others? Another concern of course is the issue of being in a car. I'm hoping they just stopped off ther and didn't plan to drive anymore that evening.

As for the Rockets, and just about every other team in the country, it would be unwise to gloat as we've all had our problems. I don't think this kind of thing reflects on the program, but on the individuals. The response will reflect on the program.

I think that's my favorite thing a rocket fan has ever said on these boards.

This is how I started off my friday morning. I walk into olscamp for my 9:30 class still half alseep, I grab a BG news and that's the first thing I see. It basically ruined my morning. I was really excited for Turner to break out this fall but this was so stupid. I think AT should stay on the team, but no spring practice and maybe suspend him for the first game depending on how sorry he is and how the legal process goes. Well since Turner clearly doesn't want to be the next Harris or Omar here, let's see what Barnes can do and yes I'd very much like to see this Glaud kid have a shot. I still like Turner but he needs to learn from this big mistake and not do anything like this again.

I would run them to death for a week during spring drills so that the entire team can see it. THEN, I would suspend each of them for the whole year. Simple as that.

That would send the no-tolerance message that would resonate permanently within the program.

No-tolerance is not preached in the Bowling Green program. Gregg Brandon cares more for his players than I believe most coaches in the country do. There will most likely be a one-game suspension for violating team rules and that will be all the public will see and know about the situation. There will punishment, but I believe Coach Brandon and the staff will work more to help the kids. Kicking them off the team would be absolutely ridiculous. Kid's diserve second chances, and usually third chances. It's all written in the player's handbook, 3 strike rule. I think AT will take his suspension and end up having a great first season as out starting quarter back. He's not the first player to get caught, nor will he be the last.

I've been in Reserving class this morning (actuarial [expletive]) so my brain feels like a bus backed over it.

My first reaction is that I'm sorely disappointed at what seems to be a trend within our football team. Team punishment should be swift, sure, and PUBLIC.
This would send a message not only to the team, but also the locals whom we are attempting to ATTRACT to the games.

How this coaching staff reacts to this will tell me a lot of their true demeaner and attitude.

"No-tolerance" and "caring" aren't conflicting terms. These "kids" need to be held accountable for their actions instead of being coddled. This isn't about sending someone to prison for 10 years for smoking pot; this is about not respecting the privilege to play Division IA sports on a full scholarship - 2nd and 3rd chances shouldn't be automatic. Anyway, if they're suspended for a year, they will indeed get a 2nd chance next year.

After the Purdue game, Brandon made a quote along the lines of "you get what you expect in life." If he dishes out a light punishment, he should expect to receive more problems like this in the future. A strong punishment would send the right message.

That being said, I expect Brandon to suspend them for one game at most, and which point I will be disgusted.

Last year, we had a defensive captain get arrested for being so drunk in public that he couldn't stand.....I don't think he even missed a game.

I'd punishg him, but I don't think I'd suspend AT. Since Turner doesn't seem serious about being a team leader, I'd give Freddie Barnes as many reps as possible wiht the first unit this spring.

If Turner isn't interested in leading this team, I'm sure barnes, Glaud or Sheehan would be interested in stepping in.

and perhaps this latest incident wouldn't have happened if the punishment for last year's incident had more more severe

I would have to think these two guys will not be participating in spring drills at least for some period of time.
Oh, I'd have them at spring drills - but I don't think either one of them would want to be participating.

That stadium is an awful large area to run for two hours each day and I'm not so sure you want those beg dawgs on the O-line & D-line using you for a tackle dummy, but I'd have them out there.

Hey Zom - I have an even better idea: Let the entire team (minus these two) get up and run the stadium at 6:00 AM in the morning.

Perspective, fellas. Please.

Remember, the possession charge is a minor misdemeanor.

In the eyes of Ohio law, it is a bigger crime to set off fireworks without a license. That's a first-degree misdemeanor.

In the eyes of Ohio law, it is also a bigger crime to drink while underage. That's also a first-degree misdemeanor, I believe.

If Turner had been charged with illegally setting off fireworks (or underage drinking), should he have have been suspended?

I don't think Brandon should hold Turner out of practice. The time is too valuable.
