Is your suggestion then that these two players not be punished at all? Spring Practice is too important, fall practice is too important, the Wisky game is too important, on and on. Something has to be done. I agree that Spring Practice is very valuable, but they need to be punished in some form and while my original post was meant that they should not be practicing with the time in the traditional fashion, I agree that running them during practice would be acceptable.Schadenfreude wrote:Perspective, fellas. Remember, the possession charge is a minor misdemeanor.
In the eyes of Ohio law, it is a bigger crime to set off fireworks without a license. That's a first-degree misdemeanor.
In the eyes of Ohio law, it is also a bigger crime to drink while underage. That's also a first-degree misdemeanor, I believe.
If Turner had been charged with illegally setting off fireworks (or underage drinking), should he have have been suspended?
I don't think Brandon should hold Turner out of practice. The time is too valuable.
Should AT have been punished for setting off fireworks, of course. But, I don't care what Ohio Law says, in my mind and probably most of us and the coaches, smoking pot is worse. Heck, in Ohio a child rapist can get off without jail time.
