If the drug task force action strike team down at the bureau of criminal investigationisms are sweating a couple of college kids with joint or two's worth of weed then maybe we have won that war on drugs. Those boys have too much time on thier hands.

It is a joke that it's a misdemeanor....it shouldn't even be that

" AT is going no where in life." ahahahah tekekini might be the dumbest person alive! How worthless are you for that comment. And those kids got kicked out of school because it was in the dorms. It isnt favoritism, if anything the cops are looking to bust athletes more than regular kids. There should be favoritism its the high profile athletes and teams that make the enrollment go up each year. The athletes bring in so much money for the school and they have a much harder demanding schedule and should catch a break every now and again.

Look, first of all, I'm still not sure if a one game suspension is enough. I'm not sure what kind of message that sends. To me, it sends a message that although we don't want you to smoke pot for many reasons, but if you get caught with just a little amount and don't lie to us about it, you will have extra running, and a one game suspension. As a coach myself, I don't think that sends the right message. It's hard enough to make sure our kids are doing the right thing when we're not around. I remember what it was like when I was a student. While I never did drugs, I did break the law when I drank underage, and that is going to happen. These kids are going to do things that they aren't supposed to do, almost all of us do it. That is a fact. But when you get caught, and it's in the newspaper, then there is a problem. As a student athlete, you represent the university, the team that you are on, along with yourself. And you have to be smart with what you do, but you also have to know that if you get caught, there are going to be repercussions. I can tell you that if one of my kids were busted on a drug charge, they would be sitting out more than one game. There would also be the weekly drug test, and lots and lots of extra conditioning. I am not going to say that Mr. Turner should be kicked off of the team. But I wish that Coach Brandon would have made it more than one game, and he shouldn't play in the spring game.

There are a couple of people on here that are totally off base. There are people on here that are calling for the dismissal of Mr. Turner. So for those that are saying that we are acting differently because it happened at BG, and not OSU, that is ridiculous. And please don't tell me that he is going to start drug trafficking because he got caught with pot. Some people smoke it, and others sell it. Not everyone that starts out by smoking it starts selling it, that is a ridiculous statement to make. There is another poster on here that got hostile defending these two. It is our right to make our own judgements on what should happen. Everyone on here knows that what they say is not going to have any impact on what punishment each kid got. Second of all, if this is the "worst mistake of their life", then they are going to have pretty good lives. It is a bad judgement call, that is for sure, and it's a mistake, but it's not a life threatening mistake, and no one got hurt. I hope that you weren't trying to insult our intelligence when you try to tell us that they got busted, but they weren't smoking it. There was a "strong odor" coming from the car. You and I both know that they were smoking, and you can't tell me that they weren't smoking it. Just because they didn't get caught smoking, doesn't mean that we are wrong with our assumption. I would buy your argument if they didn't have the odor thrown in. Today is the first time I have read abou this, and I am disappointed to say the least. If the pro game has supsensions for drug use, then we sure as hell should too. Pro athletes are getting paid lots of money, and our kids are getting paid with scholarships that getting them an education. Why do I think we should me a little more severe than the pro game? Because as a college coach, we have an obligation to help shape them as young adults, and help them to learn life lessons, and to show them right from wrong. Coaches at the next level aren't in the same boat as we are, and they are being paid to win, and let the league handle the disciplinary end of things. I would have been happy if he would have gotten a three game suspension, and other smaller events to make sure that it doesn't happen again. But Coach Brandon has made his punishment as he saw fit, and I just have to trust that not only Mr. Turner, but the whole team has learned from this mistake.

I think you're right. The thread has brought some new posters in though. I hope they'll stick around and contribute positively, whether it be again, or for the first time.

Debate the topic, not the individual, home chicekn. And from what I've read from you to date, I wouldn't cast any stones.

With Houston's reply - which was excellent, I'm going to lock this topic. I think everything which can be posted, has been posted.
