First Practice

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

Stopped in to the first basketball practice yesterday before the football game and am even MORE pumped for the season to start now!!!

Just being back in Anderson, hearing sneakers squeaking and balls bouncing...there's something SO very therapeutic about that for me.

We've got some exciting new faces on this squad... I've got a feeling we've got better chemistry on this squad than any team in recent memory, and after a few possible learning-curve related bumps, I can see this team steadily improving throughout the season.

Mmmmmmmmmm...that road trip to Chicago on 11/20 can't get here soon enough!!

I know what you mean about walking into Anderson and hearing the sneaks and the dribbling. . . Even when it was jr. falcons for me there was something great about the first few steps in.

Great to hear you feel the chemistry is better with this team. That is something that has definitely been missing. Remember back when we had The Right Chemistry? :D

I was in Anderson Arena Saturday, too. However, I did not get to stay for the practice. What I did notice was a strong odor of cat urine in the lobby. Hope we get that cleared up before the UIC game.

NICE!! I have that poster and remember thinking how mean Clinton Venable looks- what a great guy he was and a tremendous player. I say he is the best PURE Point Guard that I have seen play for Bowling Green. I actually own the #11 jersey that he has on in that photo.

I also remember Kirk Whiteman telling me that they all felt really dumb walking accross campus in lab coats and their uniforms over to the chem building to take this picture. Great win against MSU, too bad we had Findlay scheduled too hehe

Grant, you see the team practice, tell us you did so, and then fail to tell us how the freshmen looked! Aaaaggghhh! Dammit! Please, how did Robinson and Vandermeer look? Soler? Did Montgomery look better with the added strength??? -> we'll need him this year. You KNOW I've been obsessing about this for months. Spill it. NOW! :D

This post was not about individuals. You can't tell from one practice. This was just about a good feeling...a solid feeling...about this team!

The freshmen looked great, the transfer looked great. Everything was great! I can't be objective after my first visit to a played-in Anderson Arena in 7 months!! I was drunk with the ambience!!

Pardon me Grant, but I now have the image of Kim Catrall in the gymnasium from Porky's after reading your posts.

I didn't make it over to Anderson Arena, but I did see Steven Wright walking with another guy at the football game. I didn't recognize him, he may have been the walk-on from Georgia. He could have also just been a friend, but being he was about 6-5 or so, I guessed this may have beeen the new guy. I was just thrilled to see Steven Wright on campus and not reading about him leaving the team.
