The nice thing about the early season games is that some of you pansies that complain about the cold and wet weather in November don't have an excuse for missing a home game. Or will you use the excuse that Michigan-Notre Dame, or OSU-Texas, or Harvard-Columbia is on and you don't want to miss it...

From an attendance per game perspective, we couldn't have gotten a better schedule.

If attendance per game is so important, how about we have 11 road games and one home game, with free attendance and pass out $5 to everyone who shows up.

If misery loves company, so far these other schools also only have 5 home games: Kent State, Miami, CMU, Buffalo, WMU. NIU and Toledo have 6 home games, with one of those being against a I-AA team.

I have to say I am going into this season with modest expectations, seeing it as a (re)building year in preparation for a major MAC title run in 2007. That being said, we look to have a good chance to be in the hunt in November.

Eyeing up possible roadies ... looks like Kent & Buffalo are our best options. I'd prefer Buffalo (since Noah has already seen the Flashes), but I'll have to check with the COO about our own scheduling.

Overall, I agree this is a lackluster schedule, take out the Wisky game - which is at a neutral field - our home slate is made up of Buffalo, Kent, Eastern Michigan and Miami. Ouch.

Actually, I was gonna put together a predicted schedule for 2007 but with Temple joining the MAC as a full member next season, I have no idea how the divisions will line up. And with 13 MAC teams, how will the unbalanced divisions work? FWIW, I am betting that three of the nonconf games are Florida Intl and Boise St at home and a road trip to a Big Ten team (Minnesota is my first guess since they are coming to BG in 2008). Is it possible we will play nine MAC games next year???

We drew twenty some odd thousand for SWMO St two years ago when it was the first home game. I think the weather and being early in the season will make for a good attendance number for the Buffalo game. Kent is family weekend. That usually brings some people in and being in Sept this year, I would expect that to help as well.

And these are early in the season when we should still be interested in this team. I mean our most likely MAC losses are all November games. No offense to Buffalo, Kent, Ohio, Eastern and Central, but those are all games I think we should win.

And I would expect Homecoming to be a sell-out given it is the weekend after we beat Ohio State.

I thought about Temple cuz we can fly outta Akron/Canton to Philly for about $49 one way...it all depends on how much $$ I gotta fork out for OSU, Ohio, Akron and UT tix. I'll see!

Honestly, I am not that disappointed that Temple will not be at the Doyt again this year. They are not an attractive opponent to increase attendance.

Honestly, I am not that disappointed that Temple will not be at the Doyt again this year. They are not an attractive opponent to increase attendance.

Yet the Temple game was our biggest draw last year - and before anyone pounces on it, that is according to the "official" NCAA figures, which lists the Toledo game at 17,438 (yes, it was cold, blah, blah blah).

I'm glad the Owls aren't at the Doyt, too. Nothing like having an NFL stadium to yourself! In 2004, we were on the 30-yard line, about 12 rows from the field. The restrooms were empty, there were no lines for concessions and we had three people serving us!
