Anthony Turner is fully qualified to play at BG this fall and will, in my opinion, compete immediately for the number two QB position.
I wish this K. Leady well. But any comments regarding Anthony's qualification or lack there of are off base. He is ready to go. People at his HS (C-J) tell me Anthony is also a fine young man.
And, if you saw, the Big 33 game, you can see why Iowa, etc. etc. were after this QB.
Go Falcons!

A thought on "soft verbals"
I'm with you, NickSkin (RE: Soft verbal, give me a break)
Until the ink is dry, it's all talk. I can recall Shaq talking to the media after he met with the head coach of LSU, basically saying he promised the coach he was coming back. Of course, a day or two later he had an agent and had entered the draft.
As for Leady. Best of luck. I'm sure playing for Cincy has some appeal to some people for some reason.

Last season Miami received a verbal committment from OL Trevor Canfield. After the Cincinnati coaching change, New Bearcat Coach Mark Dantonio expressed an interest in Canfield, contacted him and invited him down for a tour. Canfield told Coach Hoeppner about the offer and Hoeppner told him if he decided to make the trip that ths scholarship offer was off the table. As he told Canfield (and all other recruits)...Miami considers a scholarship offer/verbal committment like a marriage....if you want to "date other women" the marriage is over.
Dantonio is making a reputation for this at Cincinnati. Thats ok...what comes around.....

Still need more coffee. I was believing the word of a 17 year old.

Carlos User? Anyone else notice that the Cavaliers host Utah on March 15th? Et tu Boozer?Warthog wrote:Soft verbal. That must be what Boozer gave to the Cavaliers. Sorta my word, but don't hold me to it.NickSkin wrote:"soft verbal"...give me a break.

Wow...what Carlos did is one of the most disgusting things I've seen a pro athlete do in awhile.Warthog wrote:Soft verbal. That must be what Boozer gave to the Cavaliers. Sorta my word, but don't hold me to it.NickSkin wrote:"soft verbal"...give me a break.
Sure the Cavs were trying to be cheap to lock him up long term now, but it was also financial security immediately. They could've forced him to play another year for the relatively small salary he was making and risk career ending injury, but they wanted to help him out. This is why I think all pro athletes should be treated, by their teams, as commodities not people. You cannot trust anyone that has an agent whispering in his ear.

I don't want to make this a Pro BB forum, but I can't help myself. Yes, what Boozer and his agent did was dispicable, but what about Utah? If I am any other GM in the league I would refuse to even talk to them about any kind of deal. They are as much to blame as anyone. They didn't respect the rules that are in place and took advantage of the Cavaliers trying to do the right thing for a player. If they don't make that offer, Boozer is stil a Cavalier and this whole thing never would have happened. There were other teams under the salary cap that could have made an offer, but Utah was the only one.hammb wrote:Wow...what Carlos did is one of the most disgusting things I've seen a pro athlete do in awhile.Warthog wrote:Soft verbal. The word is that it was his wife, not his agents whispering in his ear. His agents dumped him after agreeing to the offer from Utah. It all leads me to believe that Boozer lied to everyone.

Oooh. His wife. Some would say that might be worse than an agentFalcon30 wrote: The word is that it was his wife, not his agents whispering in his ear. His agents dumped him after agreeing to the offer from Utah. It all leads me to believe that Boozer lied to everyone.
I agree with Warthog that Utah made a shady move by offering him, but technically he was a Free Agent at that time. It was up to Carlos to keep his word, despite the major monetary difference. It was more than just money, he had told Gund that he loved Cleveland and wanted to stay there. If he loved it that much the salary difference wouldn't have mattered.
He flat out lied, and someday he'll get his due.
