Chris Knight? BG Recruit?

Post by Rollo83 »

Chris Knight. Article says BG is the leader in the recruitment of this guy. He was rated the number 5 wing player in high school at Cincinnati Withrow. It looks like he speent last year at a prep school. Probably didn't qualify out of high school.

At 6'5" I don't think he's the point guard we are looking for.

Anyone else have a read on this kid?

All it really says is:

"According to Patterson School (N.C.) coach Chris Chaney, Bowling Green remains the leader for 6-foot-6 Cincinnati native Chris Knight.

Knight has already taken an official visit to Bowling Green. "

Everything else there is all old information since he was originally in last year's class. As the OP said I imagine that he went to a prep school since he didn't qualify.

He doesn't really fit in very well with our needs, but sounds like an athlete so good you don't say no. Our team is so lacking in quality athleticism that we are in no position to turn away players with that quality. I'd rather hear about us being on the trail of a top notch PG, but at this point you take any talent you can get.

Yeah....I guess I'd have to agree with that too.

Maybe he can bring Marica Brady with him. She's hot, but a tease.

Completely agree. Take the best talent you can get no matter what your needs are. Athleticism is a huge need here and if rumors about Clements and Moten leaving are to be taken seriously than we will need solid athletes to take their place.

If Moten & Clements leave, how many scholarships do we have to give? Someone, please report in and help figure this out. Very confusing

Sorry about the subscription thing. I am not a subscriber but I get to view everything on the site. Must be getting it for free.

Here is an additional article on Knight that was dated Feb. 04.

*****************

By now, the recruiting world is well aware of Ohio standouts like B.J. Raymond and Jamelle Cornley. Now, it’s time to learn about another up and comer from the Buckeye state.
Chris Knight is a 6-5, 190 pounder out of Cincinnati Withrow High. He’s averaging 22 points a contest. He’s playing a lot of small forward and power forward for his team, but once the AAU season rolls around there’s no doubt he’ll be hoisting up shots as a perimeter player.

Knight scores high marks from those who have seen him in action. John Stovall, one of the scouts for www.prepspotlight.com, has Knight rated as the No. 2 wing guard in the state of Ohio. Despite the accolades, Knight says would like to work on his strength and his ball handling.

“My strength is probably my going outside to shoot to mid-range,” Knight said. Knight describes himself as a tall, lankly player who can dribble, block shots and rebound. “I can score.”

Cincinnati has been to see him on three occasions. On Tuesday night, head coach Bob Huggins was in the stands taking in his game. Xavier, St. Joseph’s and Seton Hall have also come to see him.

As for his recruiting situation, Knight pays little attention to it now. “I don’t know [about schools]. I just go out and play.”

And this season, he’s played well.

Another Knight article from his 2004 junior season at Withrow.

Chris Knight Profile

Withrow's 6'6 junior forward Chris Knight was simply awesome in carrying his team to an overtime victory over Dayton Dunbar. Knight scored an amazing 43 points while snagging 20 rebounds and blocking 10 shots. This is NOT a misprint, it was truly “unbelievable,” said Withrow head coach Steve Gentry. “Chris is taking the game more serious, he’s really trying to make his way to college. He wants everybody to know and see what he can do," added Gentry

I heard we were getting a point guard from Indiana.
