I thought about it. But I've already gone through my FMB/Aband mourning period  and it would be strange to be part of it again for one afternoon. So no... I'm not participating.

I'm playing! It's one last chance for me to play, so I'm taking advantage of it.

Couple of things before I tell you to go soak your head in that pool:

The Falcon Club will have a tent set up [read: raising of funds]. Having the band there was probably at the request of the Athletic Dept.

Alumni will be present [read: raising of funds]. Having the band there was probably at the request of the Athletic Dept. .

More people will be there to see Sebo [read: raising of funds]. Having the band there was probably at the request of the Athletic Dept.

This is VOLUNTARY [read: optional - in other words not required].

This will get more people in the stands even if it's just the number in the band.

Lastly, they will be there for the TEAM and not just the fans.

Carry on, and don't forget your water wings.

Whoa...sorry RITH and BGDrew....

1. Didnt think about the Sebo thing, potentially valid
2. Okay falcon club will be there...but I dont see how that affects the band as Falcon club (correct me if I am wrong) raises money for athletics...and that money does not go to the band EVER with the minor exception of Bowl Games and that comes from NCAA anyway!
3. It is voluntary, but if you have 30 people in the stadium it sounds like bad racket
4. The alumni that come to the game will be going to the game whether or not the band is there (SEE ALSO: FOOTBALL)
5. I am generally in support of the band being around, but I guess I still just dont understand this one....Sorry if you are still pissed, but I just don't see it having basically any affect on the things you are talking about
6. I don't need water wings.....I have an inflatable ring with donald duck on it!!!

I think you took my post more seriously than it was intended. I don't do smilies unless it's a matter of life or death.

Think for a moment that the band exists separately from the athletic department financially - which you know. However, you have to know that most of the marching band and a-band's existance is based on making nice-nice with the athletic department and the teams which the band supports.

I never underestimate the power of the band to help create a great atmosphere for any type of game. I really do think that by the band being there, it makes the spring game more attractive and more of an event. I also believe that pocket books will be opened up before, during, and after the game.

Is the band the direct reason for that? No. But it is a factor. Don't sell the idea short.

Also remember that the Sebos gave money to the Jazz Lab or Jazz department. So if there is a Sebo "thing" going on- a little band should be a simple courtesy to a considerate donor.

Not too mention the "band stands" off the back of Sebo.
