Except for web standards. You can keep those and stick 'em up your Google.

They are supposed to "evolve" as Google learns more about the content of this site and then the click habits of the visitors. *shrug* We'll see how that goes.

Plus, there is the opportunity for companies or indiviuals to purchase space by clicking on the link on the lower right side of the box, so if say.... the University Marketing Department wanted to reach a very target audience, they could do so directly. ;-)
G: We've been running AdSense since 2003 (geez, time really does fly) and they do a pretty good job of serving targeted ads; I'm confident that will improve here over time.

Cool. Sounds like I made the right choice. I was pretty apprehensive at first, but seeing how it's working already, and how unobtrusive it can be... I'm pleased!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Keep it coming!

Didn't even notice them. But now that I know about them, I looked. Funny but they are advertising a bunch of Ohio State merchandise. And here they claim to target the content of this site. They must be reading tekekini's posts! :-)

That's ridiculous! This is a Bowling Green Web site ... a Bowling Green State University Web site. We're all about the Falcons. The school in Bowling Green.

There, let Google chew on that.

As long as google keeps that crap in the other schools forum, we won't have to open a steaming can of whoop-ass on him. That is, after all, what the other schools forum was designed for.

Yes, but it's against the terms and conditions I agreed to to encourage such activity. ;-)

Seriously, just click on anything that looks interesting. If it doesn't, then don't worry about it. I want this to be legit. It looks like the ads will be able to cover the costs of running the site/server based upon the revenue of day 1. That's all I was looking for!

COOL!!! Glad it's working out! And I like that's it's at the bottom of the pages and not interferring with the regular look of the pages!!

Apparently the AdSense is working like a charm!

WTF is with the Google bait n' switch!?!? From text-based ads to bright, cheesy, and not brown and orange ads tossed in randomly? What the hell is that!?!?

(Though thinking about how AdSense works, they probably pay more per impression to get a full color "solo" ad in there, it might not be bad for the cause to click on them when they come around.... )

It's an option. I told it to allow those "cheesy" ads just because of the fact that they're a much higher impression/click cost! I've only seen one or two so far. Are they showing up more?

Ahhh... so YOU'RE the master baiter and switcher.... They're not showing up in ridiculous numbers, but I've seen more than a handful of them in the past couple days...

No biggie, it just surprised me when I first saw it.

87alum and ZiggyZoomba,

I recently started using Google Ads on my site too. Unfortunately after I posted a story about the new UT/OSU deal I have been seeing about 95% of the ads being for OSU stuff. Anyway, I wondered how well it works for you guys. I've only been using it for about 2 weeks.

If you wouldn't mind PMing me with your thoughts I would appreciate it. Have there been any complaints from users? Are you seeing very many clicks?

Thanks!
