If that is the case, I think that this one could be closer than everybody is thinking.
Not sure, but I am willing to bet that one of them will find their way on the field that day if Wisconsin is losing.

24: I think a lot of people would call a 9-4 season a great accomplishment. I doubt that we will see nine wins though. We are extremly young at very important position. I think it's way too early to say how this team will perform. There are a lot of question marks. Is our defense going to be improved next year? How is our o-line going to be? Who is going to be the QB and will he be able to lead the team? Receivers, from what I hear they are either young, slow or cant catch. Oh yeah and we can't forget the kicking game... Hopefully the Florida duo will be as good as advertised.
When looking at the schedule there are some no brainer teams that we should be and have beat in the past but with a young team will those games that used to be easy W's still be? At the moment I'm not so sure. We had a veteran squad last year that did not finish where most of us thought.
Honestly, there was only one game where I think I may have gone out on a limb giving us a W, and that is Wisconsin. But to be quite frank, they are going to be young at the same positions as us this season, and we went toe to toe with them on their home field, so I would at the very least expect nothing less in the rematch at Browns Stadium, where we will most likely have a slight homefield advantage, at worst a neutral crowd. Buffalo, Florida International, and Kent State should be blowout victories, as those teams are among the top 10 worst in college football. A loss to any of those teams would be quite mind-blowing to me. We may be young in spots, as was evidenced today at the Spring Game, but come on.

If we don't start at least 4-1 in the first 5 games, we are in big trouble, because the 2nd half of the season is much, much tougher. Ohio State is a sure W, and then there are some tougher MAC teams present. I gave us two losses in this conference phase, I was bickering a bit on the Akron game, but I gave us the close win. Everybody knows dam well that if Omar had played against them last year we would have blown them clear out of Doyt Perry Stadium. As for Miami, they suffer from the same problems with youth as we do, except to an even larger degree. I don't see them coming in here and beating us either, especially after how we shut down star RB Brandon Murphy and just about everybody else on that team in Oxford last November.

Maybe I'm being slightly optimistic given the circumstances, but while I think our team last year had more talent that this coming year, it was poorly put together. Team chemistry, especially on defense, was a big issue. Lack of leadership really hurt the team, most notably against Western Michigan, where we simply laid down and rolled over once Omar got injured. I wanted to puke watching that. I don't see this being a problem this year, especially with all the younger players coming in to start this year, I think they will more easily buy into what coach Gregg Brandon tells them.

True. Although I would give up about 3 or 4 of those wins in return for an upset of the century over OSU.

Heaven would be holding a MAC Championship trophy. I would trade OSU and Wisconsin to win every MAC game we play.

UW Players suspended?

You are mostly incorrect. Booker Stanley (reserve RB) was kicked off the team in February.

A reserve cornerback left for mainly academic reasons this week, but had been suspended for Spring practice. No other problems I'm aware of. And if a player is suspended, there would be no way he'd travel with the team, let alone play.

UW loses a lot of skilled players on offense. Just about everyone, except QB, John Stocco who improved a lot as 2005 wore on. The tailback position looked fair to good on Saturday. Right now, a redshirt frosh, P J Hill is the starter. He was injured in Fall camp last season and took the redshirt, else he'd of made the depth chart.

FB - Chris Pressley filled in for the injured Matt Bernstein after the Michigan game and learned on the job last year. He'll be solid.

O-line will be OKAY to very good.

TE lots of kids but no experience.

WR really questionable. Lost top four receivers. (Plus RB, Calhoun, who was, IIRC, the second or third leading receiver. Supposed to have recruited some top quality freshmen, but on September 1, who knows?

Defensive line will be a strength. Lots of injuries last season forced considerable depth to develop. Should be a stellar group.

LB quick and now experienced.

S - should be solid.

CB - Big question, especially against a wide open passing offense such as Bowling Green's.

Two experienced and pretty good kickers. New long snapper.

Summary - I expect a lower scoring game this time around.

BGSU playing in its home state. Game could be very interesting.
Bring back the Bucky Wagon, and
ON, WISCONSIN!

1 day? Hell, that could cost them the national championship, so it would be like them playing the season with that loss to BG still reverberating as they face Michigan.

I suspect we'll need to take three out of four against UT, Miami, Akron and Ohio to win the East. To do that we'll have to take two out of three on the road and beat Miami at home, something we failed to do in 2001 and in 2003's MACC. Of course, they no longer have Big Ben....

We'll be in the hunt, but we're going to need our QB to mature quickly and some true freshmen to step in and play right away at WR, PK, P and LB to pull it off.

We'll see...

How can everybody include Ohio in the top teams in the East when they have yet to beat anybody other than Pitt at home last year. They STUNK in conference last year and have made headlines only because their coach made a stupid mistake getting behind the wheel after a few too many adult beverages. I can see Akron or Miami as top teams and Toledo has had some success for about a decade now but Ohio???? C'mon, put the Kool Aid down and give me your car keys! They may be improved, but an improvement there is a .500 season!

I'd really like to think that we are going to be competitive against Wisconsin! Maybe not against Ohio A+M, but I thought that in 1992!

Sorry if I dont have my priorities straight, but the jackwads from the dipshit bas-ackwards city of columbus haven't lost to an Ohio team since 1903....If we beat them, I don't care what anybody says, that would be by far the greatest accomplishment in Bowling Green history (possibly including the '84 National Champ.). I would do anything to see that horseshoe fall to its scarlet and gray knees (they could take some lessons fron 90% of their female students) and bow to the orange and brown.

Just imagine everytime you saw some blasphemous front-running student wearing OSU gear on the campus of Bowling Green State University, you could muster a smile from the inner depths of you soul, and tell them with some sense of confidence that....BUCKEYES SUCK!!!

Wow....the heart rate should not increase like it just did!!

Oberlin beat Ohio State 7-6 on Oct. 8, 1921.

But, yeah. I'm with you. Beating Ohio State could be program changing. I'm not quite willing to say it would be better than a MAC title -- but deep down, I probably want it to happen more.
