You all did a great job out there today! I can't recall ever seeing that many of you show up for an alumni game and it was just incredible. I wish you would have all stayed around longer because it's fun playing with you guys in the stands, but now that I'm thawed out, I understand why you left
By the end of the game, the band had the biggest section in the stadium!! Anyways, thank you for coming and showing the younger people that it's great to an alum of the FMB!!

I think the alumni trumpets were the last people to go!! I was lookin around for some saxes (the last one left around the middle of the third quarter I think) and I was surprised to see like 5 alumni trumpets still standing with the trumpet row. I was like, "ah, that explains the blinding deafness in my right ear"
I personally think it'd be awesome if the alumni could mingle more with the band, but I guess it looks cool too when the alumni sits in their own block.

For serious, though. It was awesome to have you all come. We're dying to hear your opinions on how the day went! (Aside from the weather, naturally. --I mean! Um *coughcough* the sun ALWAYS shines on the Falcon Marching Band!)

Yeah, we stuck it out untill the fourth before we finally took off. This was the first one where I left before the end of the game. I guess I was prepared for the rain, but wasn't quite ready for the combination of the cold and wind. Of all people, I should have known better
We had a good time despite the weather.
I was disappointed to see so many alumni leaving after the first quarter when the rain/sleet started, but most of them had kids with them or in one case, a husband took off early and had her coat with him, so I don't blame any of them. Several people hid under the stands until the rain let up and then they came back.
When everyone started leaving, thats when we really realized how far away from you we were, so at halftime, we moved over to sit right beside you. The alumni band was spread out wide and it would have been nice if we had been setup like you where we were not very wide, but went from top to bottom. We would have all been much closer to the FMB and I think it would have looked better too. Maybe a board member will read this and consider a new setup for next year
Anyway, it was good talking to some of you (mcmetz and others) and you sounded really good yesterday. 'Through the ages' type shows are not always everyones favorite to perform, but you all did a nice job with it. Hook was from one of the many John Williams shows we performed, and Sing3 was the same arrangement, and almost exactly the same dance that we did in... maybe 94 or 95.
If any of you play at the NIU basketball game that we are helping with, I'll see you there.

My goals for next year's homecoming:
1. No husband
2. babysitter for child
3. long underwear
4. battery powered heated socks

I, unfortunately was one of those to leave early. I really wanted to stick it out until the end, but it just wasn't meant to be this year (well, I haven't been there until the end of a homecoming game since having the brat).
I sent the wife and daughter to the car right before the serious rain hit. I was able to last a little longer with Mr. David Marinelli providing a little boost of anti-freeze. *hick*. That was some smooth hooch, David.
Then the sleet and really nasty stuff started to blow in, I decided to bow out because I am just gettig over a small virus, I didn't need it to worsen.
All in all, I had a good time and it was really good to blow my own whistle for the first timein over a decade! Thanks for heeding my idle threats Cinda!

Being just one week later than normal made a huge difference this year. Hopefully, scheduling will allow homecoming to be back to it's normal week next year.
Delaine, the girlfriend actually ran back home to get you a coat, but she was too late getting back to the game. I guess it was the thought that mattered in that case:) I didn't know she was doing that until she got back or I would have let you know. Oh well.
Like I said, I wish the weather would have been better, but we had fun anyway.

IT was great to see you there - I wish I had a chance to say hello to Delaine, but with my two rugrats, it was neigh impossible.
