Omar article -- USA Today
Whomever said Gil Brandt is a has been is correct. I've always been in the group of Omar being selected in the 3rd/4th round. To not have him in the top 15 of available QBs is silly. It's obvious he has some type of agenda.
Currently, the following QBs, from reading multiple sites list Omar behind:
1. Leinart
2. Young
3. Cutler
4. Clemens
5. Croyle
6. Whitehurst
It's also possible that Tarvaris Jackson (Alabama St) could be jumping ahead of him by some teams.
It really depends on whether the team is willing to wait and develop Omar. He has to possibly fix some mechanics and learn a pro-style offense, learn how to read defenses.
He should be a BPA on some team's draft board in round 4.

If Omar is playing in obscurity in the MAC at Bowling Green, then how the hell is Tavaris Jackson moving past him? Alabama State is I-AA! After him, Gradkowski is the #9 QB by most scouts I've seen.dduncan wrote:Whomever said Gil Brandt is a has been is correct. I've always been in the group of Omar being selected in the 3rd/4th round. I don't know much about Kellen Clemens, and I know that Charlie Whitehurst is a player. Again, as I've said before, Brodie Croyle sucks ass and shouldn't even get drafted at all, and whoever does draft him will SORELY regret it. If Omar is between #4 and #6 QB taken it should put him in round 3, or early round 4, which is where I think he will go.

Every time I think about that gloriously bling brown suit Omar used to wear with an orange shirt, I think "No, he liked it here."BGDrew wrote:I'm thrilled for Omar and wish him all the best. Sometimes I got that feeling too, but to be honest, if I were in his position I don't think I would have stayed here longer than necessary either. I mean, he is from Florida after all. After his monstrous 2004 year, I'm sure some visions of NFL millions started dancing behind his dreads. It's awful hard to get that out of a college kid's mind I bet.
You might be right, or you might be dead wrong, but either way I can't say I blame him.
Edit: I just saw on ESPN.com -- McShay has Omar in the mid-4th round and scouts has him as the 7th best QB and 96th best prospect overall, which is right at the end of the third round. I still say mid-late 3rd is where he goes.
Roll Along!
I still think late 3rd/early 4th. Still wouldn't be terribly surprised to see him in the 5th or so, just because those things sometimes happen. I still think he's a guy a team will take with thoughts of him eventually starting, as opposed to just a career backup.Jacobs4Heisman wrote: Edit: I just saw on ESPN.com -- McShay has Omar in the mid-4th round and scouts has him as the 7th best QB and 96th best prospect overall, which is right at the end of the third round. This is a real turning point for the program. Omar came here largely because another deal fell through on his end and on ours (Kansas State dropped him, Karim Al Nokali dropped us).
Prep QB Anthony Glaud tuned into ESPN from his home in New Jersey and watched Josh Harris and Omar Jacobs lead the Bowling Green State University Falcons. He saw two African Amercian QB's running an offense he could run and gaining national attention while doing so. As a result, he sent the staff his tapes. They liked what they saw, so they brought him in for a visit and closed the deal.
If we aren't on TV, Glaud probably never hears about BGSU. If he doesn't see Harris and Jacobs runnning the spread, he probably wouldn't have been drawn to Bowling Green. We didn't scout New Jersey, so we probably wouldn't have known about him at all had he not sent his tapes.
This is how winning programs are built. Success feeds off of itself and it draws talent to your door like moths to a porch light. Having a talent like Omar here put a brighter bulb on our porch.
BTW, because Glaud is here, his top WR from last year ( a 6ft+ junior with good speed) is going to camp here this summer....

foolish 2
I guess what I mean by "life changing" money is being set for life and not really having to worry about money ever again. $400,000 is not going to come close to doing that.
Vince Young and Reggie Bush type money is worth leaving school early for. Anything else is foolish.
