Congratulations!

Post by OptionQB »

The 9:30 and 4:30 Saturday graduations (yes, double major) at BGSU saw Mrs. Option and a few of our former football players graduate with Marta leading the sign interpretation for the event!

The guest speaker at 9:30 was very good and made mention to "four years ago Urban Meyer was your football coach" to some audible applause (including me!) in her string of contemporary events including "you've been in college longer than Nick and Jessica have been married!" Good stuff.

Anyway, I just wanted to send out a shout to LaVelle Sharpe, TJ Carswell, Aaron Burkhart (4:30), Mike Crumpler, and Steve Sanders (not present).

Representing the basketball team, also at 4:30, were Germain Fitch (not present) and John Reimold (not present).

Congratulations to all students and student-athletes that received their degrees yesterday . . . And as the first graduation leader at 9:30 said . . .

"Welcome to BGSU Alumni Association!," which nearly got her booed out of the building.

The Speaker in the 4:30 graduation was pretty good, and on a related note, Uncle Sid is still a horrendous public speaker :)

A Former Freddie graduated at that ceremony, and wore huge orange shoes during the ceremony. Good stuff.

Also going through graduation were the following hockey players: Bronson, Barnett, Frazee and Piersol. Congrats guys!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

FF and option, thanks for the posts. I think it is great that you are sharing this info. It was very, very impressive to watch those student-athletes get those diplomas- along with all the other smiling faces who all worked very hard. I watched the 9:30 graduation and another Freddie went through with the big orange shoes at that one. Quite a tradition.

I believe you did miss another hockey player, Bryan Dobek, also in College of Bus Ad.

FB WR Derrick Lett was in the College of Bus Ad list; add also with Nate Fry with a BS in Criminal Justice and former TE/FB Todd DiBacco in College of Tech.

Softball hurler Liz Vrabel was in the Business list and Academic All American and NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship winner gymnast Jessica Guyer received her Bachelor of Science degree.

I love to scan these commencement programs when I have occasion to attend a ceremony.

Go Falcons!

Yikes, I must be losing my touch...how did I miss him??? Did he walk through? Pilkington's name was listed, but he didn't walk.

I also scanned the program looking for familiar names.....well....it was a LONG day for me!!!

Congrats to all the students and athletes who graduated!!! Perfect weather for the day too....not hot in AA at all, unlike some years!!!

It figures that this would be the year that mother nature decided not to make it 4 million degrees in there...

I gotta say, the best deal is the outdoor ceremony for summer grads!!! And they paid us 300 bucks back to graduate then (its a small token, but when you are on scholarship and they hand you a three hundred dollar check....it is nice!)

The summer graduations have been really gorgeous....some VERY hot and VERY humid, but for the most part, fantastic weather...yeah, I know, I probably just jinxed the one for THIS summer....
