WVKO is off the air, and reportedly "bleeding money".

That was fun while it lasted. Guess I'll have to go back to listening to Ohio or Kent State football games when I'm in the car on Saturday afternoons.

I think the thing to keep in mind is that Bowling Green got a deal with WVKO because the station was in such a bad position in the market.

From what I understand, the WVKO deal was inked as soon as BG found out Miami had dropped the station from its network.

What makes it a little tough in Columbus is there aren't as many AMs here as there are in Cleveland or (for example) Cincinnati. This is a newer market.

The only MAC team on the air here (as far as I know) is Ohio. A Circleville station, WAZU-FM 107.1, carries their games.

Yep. That's right. Kent State's flagship, WHLO 640 AM from Akron, comes in during the daytime as well.
