I personally think there is a lot of hypocracy floating around right now. Each of you that have said that smoking the reefer is not a 'suspendable offense' would be the first ones jumping on any other school on our schedule, saying that breaking the law is not acceptable, and that there should be some consequences.

In addition to that, I think that justifying your pot habit through an event such as this is ridiculous. Whether it should be legalized or not is a different issue, but at the current moment it is against the law, and therefore a punishable offense. Don't use the excuse that 'everyone does it' because everyone doesnt do it. The law is the law whether you agree with it or not, and as a representative of BGSU, (which filters down to mean MY DEGREE(whether justifiably or not)) who is given financial incentive in the form of scholarship to do so, these players should be held responsible for their actions.

After all, when we got busted for beer at the spring game, I was held responsible, and none of you other drinkers stood up and said, 'Hey we were all doing it, let him stay' Just some food for thought!

The Athletic Department just does not see how your fine and or time could have been punishment enough, and feels that you should not be allowed to attend home games. Due to your not obeying the laws.
But you forget one IMPORTANT thing- the young man was CAUGHT. Stop making dumbass excuses for activities that have been deemed illegal by lawmakers. He needs to accept responsibility (which evidently he has) for his actions.

Find a post from me about discipline at another school.

Go ahead. Try it.

Speak for yourself.
Whether it should be legalized or not is a different issue, but at the current moment it is against the law, and therefore a punishable offense.
Firing off fireworks is a more serious crime. Had Turner been convicted of that, should he have been suspended for last year's Wisconsin game?
Don't use the excuse that 'everyone does it' because everyone doesnt do it. So should underage drinking convictions merit suspensions?

What if the coach learns that an underage player has been drinking ([sarcasm]and I'm sure he has no idea this ever goes on[/sarcasm])? Should he just issue the suspension right then and there? Or is the message that players can drink if they like, just don't get caught?
After all, when we got busted for beer at the spring game, I was held responsible, and none of you other drinkers stood up and said, 'Hey we were all doing it, let him stay'
Maybe you should have been suspended.

Who is the hypocrite now?

I'm only now learning to cope with the black cloud that hangs over MY degree because there were people drinking beer in the stands at the spring game.

(Disney World sucks....I'm paying $9.95 for 24 hours continous hours of broadband. That's an effective rate of roughly $300 per month. What's really galling is the number of attractions they feature in Epcot, the Animal Kingdom and the rest of the parks that decry greed and the destruction of the enviroment. I'm paying how much for a salad? Walt drained how many acres of virgin wetland to build this monstrosity? THAT'S hypocrisy kids....)

The right decision coach. It sends the message most of us thought needed to be sent. Thanks.

Now you know why I didn't post from there. Too expensive and I was donating all of my coin to Walt "The Icecube" Disney anyway. It was either eat or post. I love azz quite a bit, but food ranks above.

I was going into withdrawl. The only thing saving me was that I was too freaking busy to care.

Disney World did suck. [brain washing kicking in]Can't wait to take the daughter there in 2008![/brainwashing kicking in]

It's the Happiest Place on Earth! (at least it was for the people who had their hand in my wallet the whole week I was there). Nothing like paying Four Seasons prices for Holiday Inn style accommodations and food that's not even up to par with McDonalds.

I can't believe he wasn't suspended for that.
Stay tuned for the 2nd game of the season. Maybe Brandon effectively kept that one from leaking to the publc.

I hope this wasn't directed at me but I have a feeling....

I stated I wouldn't pass judgement on AT cuz I did toke up 15-20 years ago at BGSU. And I stated a personal opinion about why I thought it should be legalized. So what? If you don't see it that way, fine. I don't go jumping down your throat because I don't see your point of view.

I also stated I had confidence that the coaching staff would take care of this in the proper manner...which they have.

Chill out.....it's only a message board.

Alright, Shadenfreude and Freak, I did not direct anything at any individual, but if you read the entire message board as a whole from beginning to end as I did when I responded, a lot of what I pointed out was mentioned a number of times, in a number of contexts. I have no problem if you toked up 15-20 years ago, however there is a post buried deep in there that says 'everyone does it' and thats what I was referring to. As far as the fireworks thing, I agree that that is a serious offense as well, no doubt about it, and I am sure it was dealt with then as well, perhaps behind the scenes.
Finally, as far as me being suspended for drinking in the stands and being suspended, had I been on a team, it is likely I would have been, but AT was not suspended from school, and nor was I. He was suspended from football, not school.
And...finally on a lighter note, sorry I ruined your degree by 'not so drinking' in the stands!

I was not attacking anyone, but I encourage you to read the board start to finish and you may see my POV a little better. Maybe not, and thats okay too!
